@crebre80: Those look super awesome! I am a little while off from doing something like that, but I like to get some ideas under my belt.
It is WAY easier than it looks. I used an 8 inch oasis ball and soaked it and then did the centerpieces. It maybe took 15-20 minutes to complete.
My image uploader is acting nutty as soon as it comes back on line I will send more pictures.
Those are cute. I have some that I am doing for our "alter" that I can't wait to finish.
@hrev2010: Yep! Depending on the time the wedding is, you can get the carnations for between 68 to 89 on sams.club for 150 flowers. The oasis balls can be found at about 10 for 2 at sav-on-crafts.com and the vases can be bought for about $10 or so if you use a 40% off coupon at Michael's.
I made those for my wedding!! Love carnation balls!
I used eight 10 inch Oasis balls and about 1200 fresh carnations that I bought from a local wholesaler. It actually ended up being a pretty simple project.
I was able to make them 2 days ahead of time.
My family said I was crazy for using carnations (they said it was a "cheap" flower) but, after they saw the finished product, my carnations balls won them over. : )

Here are some recent carnation balls I created.....
The balls had about 100-125 fresh carnations (you can get them from sam's or your lolcal floral market). They were atop a 24" tall vase and had hanging crystals inside.
