Went to a salon a couple days ago to get my hair dyed and cut. It was my 1st time at this place and the lady did and AMAZING job. Now, I’ve always been that person that tips a minimum of 20% for every service and typically I tip even more. ALWAYS. So often that my guy makes fun of me for overtipping.
And I forgot to tip.
I don’t even know how it happened. I was so busy signing my receipt and thinking about getting home to start dinner I didn’t realize I forgot to request she add the tip to my card. 2 days later and about 100 blunders later I just realized that I was that douche that didn’t tip in a tip-mandatory situation. It’s never happened, ever.
What would you do? I’m planning on going back to her. Do I double tip her next time and apologize or should I mail her the tip? Or do I just chalk it up to a brain blunder and stop worrying so much? I just feel bad.

if I were you, I’d stop worrying so much. just make sure you tip next time you go 🙂 it’s better if you tip in cash too.

I would probably go in there and leave it for her. I’m sure you’re not the first person who didn’t remember!

Can you call up the Salon or go back over and tip her? Im sure she would really appreciate it!

I would go back to the salon with an envelope of cash, apologize in a light way, and tip your stylist.
Someone did this to me when I was working in a restaurant, and I spent the next 24 hours wondering what I’d done wrong. He came back the next day & tipped me generously…I felt much better! And I thought he was really sweet to come back, since some people would just write it off.

I would write her a little card and just say “So sorry I didn’t include this the other day, I was in a rush and I completely forgot somehow!!”, include the money and leave it sealed up at the front reception for her 🙂

I’m exactly like you! I always tip well and I’d be worried, too. What I would do is go by there in person and give her the tip. I know it seems extreme to some, but I completely understand how you feel. If it were me it would drive me nuts until I got the tip to her.

I’d go back in as others said and leave the tip! She will surely understand…things come up and people forget sometimes!

I’ve gone back the next day and tipped, I had a debit card and they couldn’t run tips on a card for some reason, so I just went back. They understood!

I would tip her for last time before you go back! I wouldn’t put my hair in someone’s hands who I didn’t tip.

I work in the salon industry. Typically, we get lots of forgotten tips or what not so genearlly the next time you come in – just write a small note saying the tip was for this time and last visit! Usually we don’t even know or remember.

I generally tend to keep thinking about these sorts of things until they’re rectified, so I’d probably just run over and drop off the tip in an envelope for her.

Thanks for all your input everyone! We’ll be in her area next weekend so I’ll be sure to swing by and leave it for her. I was leaning towards that initially but didn’t know if it was weird/overthinking an innocent situation.
Though I kinda wish when salons printed their receipts they had a tip line like in restaurants. Those little reminders are a must for me. 🙂
