Why would someone take a ring to Macy’s to have it looked at?  Why not a jewelry store?

Interesting… I wouldn’t think such a huge chain like Kay’s would pull something like that. It kind of ruins the whole proposal if she tells him she found it and has been taking it around and found out it’s fake. Moral of the story: don’t snoop around for the ring.

How did Macy’s test it?  Surely they don’t have microscopes or anything like that to verify anything.

That part sounds fishy … the Macy’s part. It would make more sense to go to a non-chain jewelry store to get it checked.
