I like his 17 tips, even if they are common sense, its nice to be reminded again.
But I don't like that he uses them as rules for a "minority" of people and then goes on to recommend his other plan for everyone else. IMHO everyone should follow those 17 tips and will make it through the holiday season with very little weight gain. And if you do slip a little? Then exercise more in January :)
Yeah, I have also heard that designating 5 or 6 "cheat days" during the holidays to eat whatever you want. Then, the rest of the days follow a more strict diet and exercise program. I think I will be doing that as well
@Babyboo - I read it over, and I don't think he's saying the minority of people, I think he's saying that with his diet plan, you will only follow those tips at the minority of holiday parties you go to. He's basically saying (I believe) that if you plan them correctly, a few cheat days won't throw you off a weight-loss track.
@Lilyfaith: Oh I totally agree with you on cheat days being okay. But even if that is what he is saying it seems a little like sketchy marketing to me. If a person were to just skim the intro he makes it seem like he's going to give you the magic secret to eating whatever you want w/o gaining an ounce. And while that would be amazing in a perfect world we all know there isn't one ;)
Yeah, I'm so sick of these "amazing new secret" type diets! When will we learn that there is no amazing new secret, just good old fashioned eating healthy and exercising?! I'm all for health tips and using protein to your advantage, etc, but I was grimacing through his whole article. None of these guys actually have anything other than common sense on there, they just dress it up!
Thanks for the tips! I especially like the using dessert plate idea and the depletion workout the day before. But staying away from alcohol, ugh. I must be good, I will have a two drink limit. My wedding is in January and I cannot afford to gain weight over the holidays!
