Weird question, but for those of you who sent an invitation to the president, did you include a reply card?  I know they send you a letter in response, so it seems weird to send a reply card- but maybe they need the address?  I'm not sure, but I would like the save the card if possible.  For some reason we have 5 fewer reply cards than invitations, so we don't have many to spare...

awesome!! i totally forgot that we talked about sending an invite to ours too!! (hehe!)

I would say just make sure that your return address is on the outside of your invitation, and you should be fine to not send an RSVP card, espcecially if you are short on them.

I had never heard of this either, but I just Googled it.  You actually get a card back from the Pres!  How cool is that?  I'm totally adding the Obamas to my guest list now...thanks for the tip, greenleaf!

haha I just sent ours last week!!

For kicks, I included the response card... Good point about that giving them the address to return it it to.  I suppose you don't NEED to send one. Its kinda obvious they are a decline! Just make sure the return address on the invitation envelope is correct. You could hope they use to that to get the address.

Wish I knew more! Our return address on the envelope is my moms and address on response card envelope is mine so I guess we'll see which address they use when I get a letter.

You get a letter congratulating you and (I think) sending the president's regrets that he will be unable to attend ;)  It's also signed with one of those pen machines, so it looks like it's a real signature not just some printed letter. I know it's sort of corny, but I want one!

Plus, maybe he'll get bored and decide to come? Ok probably not, but he would be more than welcome!

We didn't send a reply card but still got our lovely response from the Obama's.  It took FOREVER to get back, but I'm still glad we did it!

We sent a reply card with our invite to the Prez only because it was already made for our other invites and it is part of the insert package in our pocketfolds....it would have looked funny without it!

I didn't have reply cards (RSVP online) so I just sent the invitation as I did for all other guests. We got a response in 2 weeks! I was expecting it to take months! It is a really nice keepsake. I wouldn't have done it for other presidents, but I do feel this one has a special historic significance, and I can show it to my grandkids later later later on!

I wouldn't bother to include the response card. I'm going to only because it looks nice (though who exactly am I trying to impress?), but I won't include a stamp on it.

Nope, but I am inviting the last President and head of political affairs and every elected official I have ever worked for (I used to work in politics) and we are requesting that a flag be flown in my great grandfathers honor that day over capitol hill.

What a coincidence-- we received ours from the White House TODAY!!  :)

I only mailed the invitation without an RSVP card (seemed kinda silly to do so).  I made sure our return address was clear on the envelope.

@tksjewelry- it sounds like you might actually have some of these people show up, since you worked for them!

What is the flag flying thing? I've never heard of that...

I'm totally going to do this now...my fiance would be stoked to get a letter from the president. Maybe I'll just see if Gov Schweitzer wants to come too!

If anyone sent a reply card, did you actually get it back?

We sent an invite to the Obamas and to Gov. Schwarzenegger, and heard back from the governor long before most of our "real" guests.  The reply was a congratulatory letter, mailed in a 9x12 envelope with a piece of cardboard inside to keep it from bending.  The postage was well over a dollar.  I'm tempted to write back and say "Thank you for your congratulatory message.  Unfortunately, we are rapidly approaching the deadline for a final headcount and your letter did not indicate if you and your family will be attending.  Please mail back the stamped, self-addressed RSVP postcard we enclosed with your invitation.  Thank you."  Or maybe I should give them a call? :)  I was hoping one of his staffers would fill out our mad-lib RSVP with some fun Arnold-like statements, but no such luck.  I suppose they've got better things to do!

I wonder if BF would be creeped if I bought *one* invitation and sent it, even though we aren't anywhere near being engaged or married (to my knowledge).  I'd probably send one for now, and then another if we actually were getting married before the end of his term, that way I could give it to my mom as a keepsake.  She'd love it.

I bet if you sent two at the time when you got married you would likely get two responses.  I doubt they keep track ;)

Can someone let me know where to send the invite for President and Mrs. Obama?

Is there a special department at the white house that you address it to?

We sent an RSVP, too.  I even put a little number on the corner, in case they didn't fill in the name, heh.

How long did it take to hear back from da prez?  We haven't received ours yet, but it would be sweet to bring it to the wedding if we got it in time!

How long did it take to receive a response from the White House? If you mailed your invitations 8 weeks before the wedding, did you get it in time to display at your wedding?
