Which song are you going to dance with your new hubby at the recepcion? I'm curious on whether couples dance to traditional vs more moderns songs.

Also, does it have a special meaning for you or you just picked it because you like it?

I did a stupid thing and let my FH pick our song.  We went to high school in the 80's and that is where his music taste is stuck.  He chose Journey - Faithfully.  OMG, really!?  I feal like I need a dress with huge puffy shoulders and some big Dynasty hat.  LOL

"Little Person" by Jon Brion.  Long before we got engaged he sent me this song and said "We have to dance to this at our wedding."  He was totally right :)

Ours was Leonard Cohen's "Dance Me to the End of Love."  We both liked it, plus it was hard finding love songs that weren't exclusively male/female.  (We're both women.)

@missbubbles-  I have loved that song for a very long time.  Whenever it comes up on my ipod in the car, I turn the volume up and sing as loud as I can.  :)

Our first dance is "The Night Will Go As Follows" by The Spill Canvas.  It's pretty long (5:13 I think), but we're thinking half way through we'll have everyone join us.

ours is going to be "patience" by guns n roses.  it has a lot of meaning for us, as we were 3,000 miles apart when we first met and fell in love.  we just have to try to get the image of a spandex-wearing axl rose out of our heads while we're dancing, haha!

"Lucky" by Jason Mraz and Colbie Calliet. Its just kinda been "our" song. But even though I LOVE the song we are dancing too I also kinda wanted "Look after you" by The Fray. Just such a sweet song!

I'm personally torn between Lucky by Jason Mraz or Unforgettable by Nat King Cole.

Unforgettable is "our song". But Lucky was the first song we heard after getting engaged and the lyrics suit us perfectly. But it's also such a popular song right now for weddings.

Gotta decide soon bc we have dance lessons coming up!

    @Chillmer,

Have you heard the Louis Armstrong & Ella Fitzgerald version? LOVE it. Def a must play a some point during the night.

We're dancing to "You're the one" by The Black Keys.

We picked it because we both have very different tastes in music and this is the one song that we could agree on. Tongue out

We danced to I'm Yours by Jason Mraz-- it was perfect-- huband absolutely loves his songs and we didn't realize it until after the wedding, but people said how much they loved watching us bc we danced great and sang to eachother... needless to say we have never taken any dance lessons and didn't realize we were singing to eachother-- it was great though!

We are dancing to Paul Brandt - I do
It is very us. :)  and the words are so great!

I've seen the storm clouds in your past
But rest assured 'cause you are safe
    at home at last
I rescued you, you rescued me
And we're right where we should be
    when we're together

I know the questions in your mind
But go ahead and ask me one more time
You'll find the answer's still the same
It won't change from day to day
    for worse or better

Will I promise to be your best friend
And am I here until the end
Can I be sure I have been waiting for you
And did I say my love is true
    Baby I will, I am, I can, I have, I do

I know the time will disappear
But this love we're building on will always be here
No way that this is sinking sand
On this solid rock we'll stand forever

Will I promise to be your best friend
And am I here until the end
Can I be sure I have been waiting for you
And did I say my love is true
    Baby I will, I am, I can, I have, I do

    Baby I will, I am, I can, I have
    Oh, I will, I am, I can, I have
    Baby I will, I am, I can, I have, I do

I'm pretty sure we are going to dance to "You're my Best Friend" by Queen. We are both Queen fans and the lyrics are so sweet and perfect. Not too sappy, a little rock and roll, and you can never go wrong with Freddie Mercury!

We are thinking we might dance to The Sundays' version of Wild Horses. It's a great song, and their version of it sounds so ethereal and light.

'Our song' has always been dig by incubus, and I love it, I am just super afraid that everyone will be confused and distracted from watching us because it's such a strange choice. It's also hard to dance to... I don't know... just because a song is "our song" doesn't mean it is right for the first dance song but we'll probably do it anyways.

@breezer - We love that song and thought about using that one, but I agree that it would be difficult to dance to...so we picked something else.  Bummer cause it's such a good song!

We are using "Married Life" from the film Up. It has some slow, sad parts so we'll edit it, but it's just a lovely little instrumental waltz and for anyone who has seen the movie it immediately evokes the sentiment of this amazing relationship that Ellie and Carl had. I think there will be a number of Up references at our reception. Aww, I'm gonna cry!

Kudos to whoever is using Dr. Horrible!!

We'd like to dance to a song by the local singer we saw on our first date...trouble is, all of his songs are so sad, so they don't seem appropriate. But it would have special meaning to us, so I'm very torn!

We were going to use Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol as it's our song, but  my cousin used it as her walking down the ailse song last year. So since I love Incubus we will probably use Stellar. I wanted Drive, but my FH feels it might confuse people, hehe.

"Can't Help Falling in Love With You" by Elvis Presley.  It's a classic, and the lyrics ring true for our relationship.  :)
