I have my hair and makeup trial in a week and I am trying to get ready for it.
I do love the hair and makeup artists I am working with. They come to my house and I am supposed to be clean faced and unstyled clean hair.
Ummm I do not go out in public like that ever not even to the drug store. OK I once went to the emergency room like that because I was very ill – that is the only time any human other than FI and kids have to deal with my natural state.
So I thought I would take some pictures of how I normally do hair and makeup (so they can see what I look like as a human) and then show some makeup inspiration pictures.
But my hair is impossible. Uber baby fine (think pony tail diameter of a pencil) with no natural volume – thank god for my blow dryer and curling iron etc. I am not opposed to clip in extensions but because my hair texture is so “unique” my stylist is not even sure that they will blend in and not look funny. My hair is to my shoulders right now but due to a VERY bad hair cut 8 months ago has some odd layers in it.
So I know what I want to look like on my wedding day – I want my hair up in a soft updo and I think it can be done. But it will not look like any normal pictures.
So do I just explain soft romantic updo and let my stylist go from there or would you find some pictures saying I know my hair will not look like this – just the feel I want in my style?
Thanks – I know I cannot be the only bee with impossible hair that does not look anything like any of the inspiration pictures out there 🙂

I lol’d at “see what I look like as a human.” I feel that. 😉
I would have a few inspiration pictures because, it’s just inspiration. If they can just visually see what you prefer then I think they could better make your hair do something with a similar vibe. No, it won’t be a carbon copy, but ideas never hurt. 🙂
My hair is the opposite of yours but I have the same problem – I literally have the thickest hair my stylist has ever worked with, according to her. Thick, naturally wavy, and ridiculous. So I wish her luck! Lol.

My sister and I have the same type of hair as you, and as panicked as I am about wth is going to be done with my hair, my sister was able to get a very full, low updo for her wedding no problems — the stylist had to soft tease and work like mad to give the illusion of volume for her hair, but she didnt opt for clip in extensions (I am as my hair is a similar length to yours; hers was ” her mid back when styled).
I would definitely have a few inspiration pics, it is only a reference and your stylists should be able to work with you to find something that works.
I told my partner that if my hair doesnt turn out day of I was going to wear a paper bag haha.

I have fine hair too, but a lot of it. So, curls are a little tough but they can happen with enough heat & product. But what I do with inspiration photos is show them, but then say “I understand my hair texture may not work with this, but here is the feeling I am going for”

i have super fine hair as well. its very thin, almost to the middle of my back but does not hold curls for anything!
my hairstylist did an amazing job with my hair, teased it for some volume and curled it with a flat iron (which works amazing well! i still have not figure out how to do it on my own) and bobby pinned the hell out of t – seriously i like i had at least 100 bobby pins. but i think it turned out wonderally and stayed all night.
this was my inspiration pic – note, miss swift has gorgeous LONG natrual CURLY hair, and crazy thick (at least it looks that way)
and this is how my hair turned out 🙂

My hair is super fine and thin – so I knew that I wouldnt be able to have any hairstyle with volume, and because its so fine and thin hair extensions would rip out the little hair that I have.
For 15 dollars I purchased a wrap around hair elastic thing (not the clip because it is too heavy) and the stylist wrapped it around my pencil thin bun and used bobby pins to hold it – I loved it! I knew I couldnt do anything else with my hair and I was really happy with the outcome!
Here is the post I made for other Bees with fine thin hair: http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/all-ladies-with-fine-and-thin-hair
