I think mine are aluminum.

Eta: I’m a dummy to not finish before hitting send.

I would think no matter what it’ll still be tough. I don’t find that my needles start hurting. My hands will cramp but only after hours and hours of knitting. Maybe you’re holding on too tight? Or is it the tip when you push the needle down?

@OneOfTheseDaysAlice:  I would think everything would hurt if its hard and pointy. :/ bummer. I guess just take more breaks. Just think, this is how you earn your knitters callus! Soon it won’t hurt so bad because your skin will toughen up 🙂

I like bamboo the best. Plastic is #2, but I’ve broken a couple of tips, so I prefer the durability of the bamboo. Metal is my least favorite. I hate the way it feels.

@JenniferG:  I agree I like Bamboo too. It feels softer to me so my fingers don’t hurt as much

I love Bamboo as well, I’ve used everything there isn’t one I hate, but I definitely love bamboo best.
