@Erindesmar: I went off around Christmas and JUST got my period last week. I was freaking out a little. I admit, I peed on a stick just to make sure and then got my period 3 days later. I had the worst bout of PMS in my life on the Saturday, seriously, I think I would have strangled anyone who looked at me funny, and then AF came on Wednesday. I'm happy I had an excuse for being such a beotch! LOL!
ETA - I was on BCP for about 14 years prior to this. I think my body is freaking out a little.
I was on BC since I was 17-18 ish and I got off BC last year. I was almost 27 when I got off BC. I wasn't on the pill though. When I was 17-18, I tried the pill, didn't like it, then I was on depo for about 5 years, and then I switched to the Nuvaring until I stopped last year. I think I stopped in August- September and I remember getting normal cycles in December.
Thanks! I think my body is freaking out. I wouldn't think anything of it except that I have had PMS type symptoms, including lots of cramping on and off for 2 wks straight. I suppose if the test is negative, there's not much I can do but wait!
I was on BC for over 6 years and stopped a little more than a month ago because it was making me a crazy person. I'm still waiting on my period. But I've read that it can take up to 3 months to really regulate, so no worries :) Your body is just figuring it all out!
@Erindesmar: I didn't have tons of typical PMS symptoms other than that one horrible day. I remember standing in the kitchen shooting daggers at DH and saying "I hope this is just PMS and not a new part of my personality because I'm really really unhappy and grumpy right now!!!", LOL! Just wait and see. I think I posted the same kind of thread a couple weeks ago and someone said it took six months. I would have been flipping out by then!!! LOL! If you haven't gotten it in a couple more weeks I'd go see your doctor.
My DH says just to wait a month or so and then call DR to make sure nothing's up. I'm so antsy though and ready for a test to be positive : )
I was BCP for for 10 years before going off this year. I got AF the first month I went off of it, but it was late. This month, it's early! I definitely think it just takes time for your body to get used to functioning without it.
@Erindesmar: I went off BC in the middle of June, and it took 84 days for my first aunt flo to arrive. I was also on the pill for about 11 years. It just took my body that long to get back to normal. I kept taking HPT after HPT and nothing...I was never more excited to see aunt flo than I was that day!
I called my doctor around day 60, and a nurse there said they wouldn't even see me until I was at day 90...so I know that's not comforting, but just what they consider a "normal" timeframe for your body to get back to it's regular schedule.
I was on BC since about age 17 and stopped last December to start TTC so I was 29 almost 30. I had been on the Nuvaring for about 6 years and my cycles were normal right away. Came every 29 days for me, no problems and no delays. Now being off of BC for over a year, I am noticing my symptoms are increasing in severity such as flow, pain etc but I also have endometriosis and that never helps matters.
I was on BCPs for nearly a decade before I went off late last summer. I didn't have any problems with my cycles...in fact I don't think there was any sort of break, I got my next period right when I was expecting it...but I think I was just very lucky, and based on really seem to be in the minority. The only difference I've noticed is my cramps are a little worse, and my face breaks out a lot more.
I was on BCP for 11 years and my cycles have fluctuated between 31 and 40 days. The first month was actually only 31, but the next month after was 40. I'm 5 cycles in (since August) and it seems to be getting a bit more consistent.
I'm with 2Peas... I've written so many posts about this. It took me exactly 90 days to get my period after I went off BCP. I'd been on it fairly regularly for 10-11 years (went off a few times early on, and did get normal periods, but hadn't been off in 6 years). My Doc also said not to come in until I hit the 3 month mark. I had an appointment set for the following week on the day when I finally got my period. My doc said if I hadn't gotten it they would have given me something like Chlomid to "kick-start" it. Apparently sometimes thats all some women need.
After that, my next cycle was 45 days, then 38, 38 again, and finally 32 last time. I'm charting and it's really helping me figure out how things are going. But yes, very normal to not get it right away... and I also had all kinds of PMS signs, etc etc. Don't worry.. it will come!!
I was on the pill for 5-6 years and when I went off it, I just got my period at the normal time and I've been pretty regular ever since. I'm guessing I'm in the minority.
I was on it for 10 years and my cycle was normal the first month I went off HOWEVER it seems like it took around 9 mos for everything to get out of my body (my skin acted crazy for a while & I had more cramping).
Thanks to everyone! I have been on more or less for 13 years, but then went off it for about 3 months 6 years ago and everything was normal right away. My logical self knew it might not be normal right away, but I have had several friends go off and get pregnant like RIGHT away so was hoping I would be in that minority. I am just going to relax and enjoy at least a few more months of drinking wine and eating soft cheeses : )
I feel like everybody is different. My cycle went right back to normal, and I got pregnant the second month TTC. I got lucky though!
I was on the pill for 12 years and I just took my last pill on January 29th. I had my period start on February 3rd - but then about 5 days ago - I started having some spotting that kind of freaked me out - did anyone else have this?
I have no idea when to expect my period - I hate this! Hubby wanted me to go off and now I feel like I am moody and grouchy :(
Ok this is ironic...I got AF this morning (day 36). A relief!!! Thanks to everyone and I will be on these boards more frequently as I'm on this journey.

How long did it take you to have a regular cycle?
I was on BCP for over 10 years, went off in mid-January and haven't had AF yet. I should have had AF last week, didn't so I tested, and nada. But have been super crampy and PMS symptoms for at least two weeks. I feel like maybe my body has just been trying to figure out what's going on. Thoughts?
