My invites are in a "envelope style" already so I have no need for an inner envelope :). My RSVP's are a postcard, I would do it just like you said. It sounds good to me :)
Im putting our invitation in back of the RSVP postcard, then tying them together with string. I think the smaller of the cards needs to be on top (just a personal opinion). I think it looks better that way.
Miss Red Velvet - I like smaller cards on top too, but shouldn't the invitation be more prominent by being the first thing one sees when opening an envelope? I can't say I ever really paid attention.

how are you going to put everything in the envelope? I am trying to be green and minimize paper and postage, with the added bonus of being less expensive. Anyway, my invitation will be a 5x7 panel and the reply card will be a postcard. I am not going to have an inner envelope, but I like the idea of a belly band. So would I put the invitation on top of the rsvp card and belly band the two pieces? Sorry if this is a dumb question!
