For bees ages 18-25, what's your job and how much do you make?
And most importantly, what are you aiming for?
I barely made the cut but I guess at 25 I'm still a young bee, woo.
I am a full time student, I have no idea what I'm aiming for yet.
Before school I was a Secretary/Office assistant, at that job I made 10.00 an hour. But I live in Oregon and that's not too bad pay, not amazing but it's liveable for sure.
I currently don't have a job, but I'm in school to be an elementary teacher. I'll graduate in May of 2014. Starting salary for a public school teacher around here is about 30k.
Just out of undergrad, I was 21 and took a 2-year postbac position in an anxiety disorders clinic. I made about $20K in a college town (which actually goes a long way, lol) doing research on the anxiety spectrum, as well as running the clinic, doing b$tch work, and managing patients with graduate students. Now I'm a graduate student in a Med Psych program, I get a small raise as of next year, and I'm still doing research and clinical work - just on the next level. ETA: I'm 23 now.
End goal? Academic research position at a university, or maybe at a hospital where I can buy out the majority of my clinic hours and focus on research in chronic pain conditions. The pay raise at that point can be pretty dramatic - I think neuropsychologists range up to about $90K starting in some places.
You?
I'm the office manager at my family's oil company, I make about $40k and I'm 23. I plan on staying there, and one day taking over when my dad retires.
I'm 25, and I work in the billing department of a Japanese telecom company. I'm in the $40-45K range.
Immediately after I graduated at age 21, I moved to Japan and became an English teacher in their public school system. I made $37K there.
I'm 20 years old, working at an insurance office as an agent. I make $11/hour.
Unfortunately Alaska is a really expensive place to live so it doesn't go far.
Once we've lived here for a couple years and move back to the lower 48, I'm hoping to go into HR.
I'm 23. I work front desk at a hotel and make $8.50/hour which isn't nearly enough, especially living with a FI who can't find work and just ran out of UC. .___.
I'm 25 and just went back to school (starting a week ago!) to become a family nurse practitioner after working in sexual assault counseling/advocacy and then with kids in a psychiatric unit. I decided I'd like to provide medical care in additional to counseling and education which is why I am going back to school. I'm primarily interested in working with children or women of reproductive age (especially providing pre/postnatal care). So what am I making right now? Nothing! Besides the occasional babysitting job. Ah!
I am 22 and I am a butcher at a supermarket right now I make about 21k a year but I am aiming to be the meat manager by age 25(60k salary) and a store manager by age 30(110k salary). All the plans are going nicely and everything is falling into place so hopefully I will be able to accomplish those goals.
I'm 23, just graduated college, got a job right out of college (BS in Accounting, minor in Economics) as an accountant and I make in the 40K/year. I plan on staying with my company for now, I really like it, but then again it's only been 3 monts :) we'll see what the future holds
I'm almost 24 and I'm a pharmacy intern while I'm in pharmacy school (2 more years after this until I graduate), and I make $12/hr. I get a $1.00 raise/year as a fixed intern rate, so by the time I graduate I'll be making $14/hr. I don't work a lot because I am full time in school though.
I'm hoping to work for the same company as a pharmacist in a few years. Starting salary is around $95-100k, with pharmacy managers making more than that. Not sure if I want that role or not. Maybe 5+ years down the road. Maybe not.
I am 20, and a full time student. And I have a part time, unpaid, internship.
I am 23. I went to college for computer science and I am a full time software engineer (hired just under a year and a half ago). I worked as an intern for the same company (20 hours/week) for two years before that and made $17/hour. I am now salaried with great benefits and the money is such that I'm not comfortable sharing for fear that someone who knows me in real life might see this. I also receive a very handsome bonus each year as well as nicely discounted and matched company stock and matched 401k. I pay $85/month for amazing health insurance.
The cost of living is rather inexpensive here.
i am 21 and am a financial advisor. i earn (base rate $38k) but with bonuses last year i earnt $45k
FI is 21 (in october) and is a tax accountant and IT manager he earns $40K (first year on job) next year it will go to $50K. He is also is doing his CPA so that will increase his wage once he passes
I'm 25, I'm a teacher, and I make just under $49,000/year (first year). I have the job I want is the one I have! :-D
I just got out of the "younger bee" range I guess. I just recently turned 26... I'll still answer!
I'm work in purchasing at a manufacturing company. I make about $44k a year with bonuses. Base salary is $40.5, but they reimburse tuition and are really flexible with time and provide great benefits.
I'm aiming for a position in Public Affairs.
I am 24. I've worked at a psychiatric hospital for 1.5 years. I went from secretary to a nurse's aide. I plan to get a day job there again, go back to school, and get my psych degree and also become a RN. I really wanted to start school this fall, but things are extremely hectic because of wedding in a month.
I get $13/hr for overnight shift; dayshift gets $12 (completely aggravates me, but long story). So my yearly income is around $26K. It's doable, but not enough to get ahead. Jersey is way too expensive.
I'm 22, Unemployed, but I am in school for a 2nd time going after my Masters in Elementry Education :D Finish in about 2 years!!! My all time goal is to achieve my Docs Degree in Education!
I work 4 part time jobs and go to school full time, i am 22. I get paid $25 an hour as a debate coach, $20 an hour for teaching SAT prep classes, $12 an hour as a research intern, and $10 an hour teaching si... It is not always fun but hey, thats life. My end goal is to become an fso
I'm a SAHM, hoping to go back to school to finish my Master's next semester :)
ETA: Before I started staying home with my son, I was a server and made about 30k a year PT.
full time law clerk student, almost full time early childhood educator/ program supervisor at a before and afterschool program
i make 18/hr and i definately need more lol so hopefully the legal area has more to offer
in the long run...who knows
I'm 25 and a licensed massage therapist. I work off of commission so my yearly earnings change. Where I'm working now I make $36 plus tips for a 60 minute massage. This year I'm on track for about $22-30,000.
25 and a school speech-language pathologist :)
Edit: I didn't see "and how much do you make" I'm at $40k
I'm an engineer for a big oil and gas company, making 3 figures. Love my company and my coworkers! I'm aiming to make more money obviously :) ideally as an executive VP like my dad at his company, but I don't know if I'm thaaaat ambitious - he works crazy hours.
I'm 25, work in IT, and make $55k. I'm aiming for as much as I can make since my field is limitless!
24, receptionist, 29k; I would like to go back to school to be an accountant and could make a job about 40k
I'm 25, work for a major Canadian Internet company in Sales. Really hope none of you Canadian Bees have our service :D LOL I make $30k after taxes/deductibles.
Not at all what I want to be doing - I graduated with honours and should be a Graphic Designer for a large firm by now but because I loathed my first boss as a designer, I quit after a year and a half and no one will hire me without more experience. Doesn't seem to matter that I am constantly building my portfolio due to friends, collegues etc needing work done. But hey. I can pay the bills.
I'm 25, a lawyer, and make $69k. I'm working for a judge now so my salary isn't as high as it could be (and I just got a raise last month). My current position ends July 2013. I was thinking about taking a job at a big law firm in a bigger city making $110k, but I think I might stay in a smaller town, so my salary would be more like $80k to start. If I didn't have so much student loan debt, I'd be perfectly happy with my salary, but I need to pay those suckers off! Hopefully I can get 6 figures by my mid-30s.
I'm 23 graduated as a psychologist, currently working on a school. I make about $40-$50k/year
Not much but since I'm actually living in Mexico, I can't complain. I hope to get a good job when I move to US wt my FI, I plan to keep on studying in US and become a psychiatrist (my main goal) cuz I love working in the clinical area. If any of you would like to hire me when I move outta here I'm OOON sisters! LOL
I am 22. Graduated from college in 2011 with a degree in Middle School Education. Right now I am working as an Autism Specialist, but hope to get a teaching job next year.
I make $12/hr.
My life goal: to be a stay at home mom. I hope to have taught before we have kids and maybe sub when kids get older.
I'm 24. I'm the lab manager/researcher in a cognitive development psychology lab. I make about 30k.... There isn't enough money in academia, so I'm hoping to get a PhD when I finish up this school year.
I just turned 26 so I'm answering it anyway ;)
I'm a PhD student and I teach undergrads - I make very little (<$20,000/year) but have research funding so I can at least pay my bills.
I may or may not stay in academia (probably not) so I'm hoping to land a research position either at a university-affiliated research organization or another social science research org.
@FutureMrsBG: Another speechie!
Le sigh...I am not longer considered a young bee. But I'm a speech language pathologist and when I was 25 I was just out of school and making between the 50-70k a year range. I'm not 28 and still in that range.
Just turned 23 & went to school to become a CMA! I work part time per diem at a pediatrics office earing $18/hr. This is more my "fun" job that I do because I enjoy it!
I work full time as HR/Accounting Specialist & many other hats at my other job earing $30k a year take home. I've been at the company for 6 years (my first job) and have no thoughts on leaving. Looking to go back to school & get a degree in either HR or Accounting in order to increase my pay! :)
Sometimes its not about how much you make as long as you like what you're doing!
