@mrsstobee:  I don’t like in NY, and I didn’t have a forest wedding, but I think this sounds like a beautiful idea!

@mrsstobee:  I was just about to say Caumsett! It’s my favorite place pretty much ever. I always thought that I wanted to get married under the large tree with all of the carvings. This one (sorry about the kissing lol):

Have you considered looking into renting a summer camp property? I don’t know if there are any in the area that offer this, since there aren’t a lot of “sleep away” camps on the island

@mrsstobee:  I remember seeing a feature on that wedding. I believe it was at a summer camp. If you’re willing to head off of the island there might be more camps in  the Westchester area or in Connecticut, I know that Club Getaway in Connecticut hosts events and it’s pretty beautiful. Not sure where you could hold the ceremony though.

I’m getting married at arrowhead lodge in Syracuse. It’s beautiful and in the woods! You could do a ceremony outdoors, and have a reception on the large patio!!

@mrsstobee:  Are you looking to just have a ceremony in the forest or are you looking to have a reception also? Are you open to venues that may be in a wooded area or are you thinking you want to have tents and bring everything in from the outside?

Check out the Bayard Arboretum, Chelsea Mansion, and the Bailey Arboretum.

@mrsstobee:  I’m in Nassau so i don’t have much woodsy places by me. I guess check out in the Pine Barrans of Suffolk? I’m not sure what options you may have out there, but I think that’s as forest as you’re going to get on LI. Otherwise I suggest maybe looking elsewhere (westchester? Ct?). Heckscher State Park might be a place to look as well. Good luck!

Hey! I’m recently engaged and looking for the same thing! Was wondering what you found 🙂 I’ve checked out Onteora Mountain House and Full Moon Resort. Both are gorgeous but a bit out of reach financially. Any suggestions?

Have you ever been to Mohonk? http://www.mohonk.com/weddings/packages

I don’t know too many places where you’d be “immersed” in the forest, remember guests need to be able to walk over (unless you’re paying for transportation if possible). I’d definitely recommend looking for venues in Hudson Valley.

Or maybe The Roxbury Barn? http://www.theroxburybarn.com/galleries/gallery-the-grounds/ Check out photos of the Pine Grove at the venue.
