It depends on what type of ceremony you are having. If you are having a religious ceremony, I would speak to your officiant about when it would be appropriate to have the readings. Usually the reader will read at the lectern, not at the alter. But again it depends on your ceremony type. I would speak to your officiant about it, he/she would be able to advise you best.

I'd like to incorporate some readings into our ceremony, but how do they work?
I'm guessing you let your officiant know at what times to place them in the ceremony? Is that right?
Does the reader just stand up and read or do they come to the altar?
Help!
