My mom wants to wear a very formal dress to our 6pm winery wedding.  My FMIL wants to wear a pantsuit.  I think FMIL is gonna feel really underdressed beside my mom if I can't help her find something nice.  Also, our plan is to have FFIL wear a tux, so she needs to match her husband too.

Anyone know where to find a pretty pantsuit for a woman in her 70s??  Where should I look?  Something silk or taffeta would be nice, maybe with a little bit of beading to give it some wow factor.

Shameless bump.  I think this got buried in the Post-a-thon.  Any help you ladies might have would be really appreciated.

I was thinking the same thing. My mom is very non girly and has requested to wear a pant suit also. My FMIL is a bigger woman and doesnt want to wear a dress either. I need to find something for both of them.....Ill do some searching and let you know!

My MIL wore a pantsuit despite the formal nature of our wedding party.  It's what she felt comfortable in and she looked beautiful.  I think she would have looked more uncomfortable in something more dressy.

I have no idea where to get a nice pantsuit, but I guess I'd start at some of the regular department stores in the formal department.  There's got to be something.

I'd say check out Nordstrom's.  They always have nice stuff.

Thanks, ladies!  I appreciate your help.  That green one is really pretty.  I think I will try to talk her into it.

I think it depends more on their figures. The only ones I would consider wearing are the black one on 2 of the above sites and the Tahari suit. It also will depend on the time of year, tho suits are always in fashion.

I'm closer in age to the women who might look at those outfits and I'd never wear any of those chiffoney things. Sorry. JMHO.

Also, most mother-of-the-bride dress companies do have a few pantsuits available now.  Browse their websites.  Scala is a good one.

Neiman Marcus has a whole category on Evening Suiting...you should definitely look there for her:

    http://www.neimanmarcus.com/store/catalog/templates/P9.jhtml?itemId=cat19670734&parentId=cat19670732&masterId=cat17740747&cmCat=

Another option would be having her get one of the formal, dressy tops they feature and pairing it with a dressy pair of pants (or a long skirt like they show).  The Alfred pantsuits won't do her any justice and already seem dated.
