Well the last week has been a doosey and yesterday was no fun at all. Monday the FI and I decided that we were going to post-pone the wedding for one year, almost to the day. Then Thursday my FI gets a call about a potential job, which is kind of a big deal because the construction industry is hurting right now in this economy, then they call back that evening and say pack your bags we need you here Monday, so he left yesterday bright and early and I tried to fight back the tears bc he always feels horrid if I cry, luckily it was raining so he could barely tell and I tried to lie through my teeth about it but that didn't work bc I am a wretched liar. So with a absent FI and a wedding not for another year I have new found free time. Wow! I completely got off topic and I am so sorry, maybe I should add blogging to all this as well. Back to the point...
I have put on some pounds that I am hating it so much right now so I decided today I would start Day 1 of my super determination to lose weight and get into shape. I am 5’7 and at (gump…) 150lbs. The most I have ever weighed, besides when I was pregnant. I have been half-a$$ing this for awhile and I hate it so this is where I decided to place my new found free time since the FI is gone. It is something that has affected my self esteem greatly and I feel I need to do this for myself. I don’t want this summer to be like the last and not enjoy swimming with my daughter bc I am so self-conscience and allow it to get the best of me. I also think it will be a nice little surprise for the FI, even though he says I am crazy and thinks I am fine the way I am. Plus I am having breast augmention surgery on May 20th so I want to do as much as I can before then. So I found this website www.50millionpounds.com. It seems to have it all, meal plans, tracking of your progress, and everything I appear to need. I like the way it is set up more than I did when I was on sparkpeople.com. I took some before pictures (ugh!!!) and measured everything I could think of bc everyone says you lose inches before you lose pounds and I can use every ounce of hope/encouragement I can get. I have a little Excel spreadsheet set up to track my progress too. I dusted off the Flirty Girl Fitness dvd set I bought a little over a year ago and got Gold’s Gym Cardio for the Wii (that way the kiddo can “help”) I would love any advice or words of encouragement you bees have. I don’t know why I am deciding to do this, but I am going to post one of the pics I took and this is something I don’t even let my FI or ANY of my family or friends see. I wear a shirt constantly when I am around him and conceal it anyway I can from him. So please be easy on me. Holy crap this is long…eep sorry!

I love Dr. Ian from Celebrity Fit Club!  That website seems to have it all together instead of the other ones that are piecemeal or you have to pay for it.

Good luck with your weight loss plan!

haha I don't mind I was babysitting a 2 yr old all day so I know how it is :) Do you have a goal date and goal weight? We can do progress reports! I guess that's probably what the site is for though huh?

Good luck!  My body is very similar to yours...Im not good at tracking what I eat especially when I eat at work alot, but I am going to start doing the 30 Day Shred again and actually dedicate myself to doing it 3-4 times a week.  I hate my stomach most of all, especially since there was 2 girls at my old work who asked if I was pregnant.  I wanted to kill them :(  And I feel self conscious wearing tshirts that are tighter around the belly!

haha yea but its kind of nice to have someone to communicate with about it all. The website just kind of tracks it and no one ever really knows how you are doing because its your own little profile for your use. I am still kind of pondering how much I should try to lose. I definitely want to set a goal that way I can have ambition and a sense of achievement but I dnt know what it should be. I was thinking 20-25 pounds or so. I was 125 before my daughter but never quiet made it back down to that size. But I also look back and think...um hello Shannon that was when you were in high school, you probably shouldnt weigh that now but that still puts me in a health range according to most BMI calculators. I am trying to allow myself some room because I am having my breast aug on May 20th but I would like to get super close by then. Anything I read says should take about 1 month to lose 20 pounds but I dnt know how accurate that is bc thats like 5 lbs a week. Which is what they do on reality weight loss shows though so it may be ok. What about you?

Yeah, 20lbs in 4 weeks sounds awfully fast. That's what most of the girls lose on biggest loser and they have bob and jillian to kick their butts! I'm not sure what a realistic healthy amount to lose is either... I guess we just try our hardest and hope for at least 1lb a week and if we get more than 1 we'll feel awesome and accomplished :) I'm about 130 right now, but I'm significantly shorter than you (6 inches shorter actually!) Healthy weight for me is about 110 so I also want to lose about 20lbs. Mainly though I really just want to FEEL better. When I'm active I always feel so much happier. We're going to hawaii on May 24th so mid may is when I want to be closer to my goal as well.

@naangel- I know exactly what you mean about everything you said. I am horrible about tracking what I eat and sticking to plans, be it with food, medicine, or working out. I am really hoping since I sort of have a meal plan to go by that I wont stray as much and with not having the FI here, I will be more inclined to work out since I have so much more free time between that and the wedding getting postponed and my daughter loves to work out with me so she is my little stand in motivation. I hate most shirts unless I where some sort of over shirt or material zip-up. I have also been asked the dreaded pregnant questions...even by my grandma ugh!

I would say 2-3lbs a week is healthy to lose.  Thats so cute that your daughter likes to work out with you!  Teaching her early :)  I HATE working out but I just need to do it!!!  I wouldnt say you are lucky that your FI is not there so you can stick to a plan but it is so hard to eat better when my DH and I make dinner or eat out all the time.  Im better during the day when Im alone at work but when I get home...it just doesnt work, we both like food that is bad for us.  While I could try having more fish or plain food, he hates fish and veggies and needs "substance" and I dont want us to cook 2 separate meals!

@wifey- wow so we basically have the same goals, thats awesome! I checked out the Mayo Clinic website and it says 2 pounds a week is a pretty sensible goal and realistic to the average person. I figure we have about 6 weeks so we could definitely get some pounds shed and some things toned up. I completely agree about feeling tons better by being active and eating better. They even say belly fat is a large contributer to fatigue.

@naangel- I know exactly what you mean! I'll plan a healthy meal and then my husband will ask for pizza and I looove pizza :(

@shannon- Woo! That's good to know. I had no clue what a realistic goal was. We do have about 6 weeks and 2lbs a week doesn't sound so bad...

@naangel -  I 100% understand that, I am sad that the FI is gone but then again I am excited about being able to maintain a healthy diet and routine. We both love food and love trying new things. He is the same way about healthy food, if he has to eat veggies he wants lots of real butter or cheese and I just dont find it financially smart or very practical to cook 2 separate meals bc I worry about wasting and I always want what he is having so that just makes it harder. Its like "Yes I would love egg whites, tuna and dry wheat toast while I sit here and watch you enjoy bacon, breakfast potatoes and the entire egg with an English muffin"

@Wifey- I agree I fully think we can do 2 pounds a week and if we hit over that then YAY! but I usually set myself up with unrealistic goals and I think that may contribute to why I have failed in the past so hopefully a realistic goal can give me a sense of achievement and keep me on track.

I dont own a scale but Ill participate with you guys!  I know about how much I weigh but even though I like seeing the numbers, it might be better mentally for me if I just FEEL better about myself and my clothes fit better and then weigh myself down the line.  Im going home to Shred now!  Too bad dinner is already planned and fattening...I just cant win! :)

Lol @ naangel I planned dinner last night before I decided to do this and my daughter loves the soup I am making so I felt bad backing out but I will just have to leave out the cheese on top and the fried tortillas that I usually eat with it, other than that I dnt think its too fattening...i hope. As for the scale thing, I think thats great, different things work with different people. I would love for us 3 to keep each other updated on how we are doing. That way we have some sort of 'accountability' or just someone to talk to about it.

Yay naangel I'm glad you're participating too! (see what you started shannon!) You can do measurements instead of weight I'm actually thinking of doing measurements too because you don't always see results on the scale, but you could be losing inches.

We haven't decided what we're doing for dinner yet, but it's supposed to be our date night... uh oh...

@shannon- I know what you mean. My tracking thing on the website says 0 lost 20 to go and I want to change it already haha... I guess we have to put in the work this week first though :)

    Can I play along?

I've never tried to lose weight before, but I need to start... because I recently started gaining weight!

My tummy looks a lot like yours, shannon (I can post a picture if you want... so you're not the only one with a tummy picture, although I don't have a pretty tattoo like you).

Do you guys have any good exercise you can recommend? That's where I don't know where to start. I've got an hour every morning before class that I would like to spend doing something good for my body!

Great job @naangel!!! Yay, I am planning on doing my work out after the movie I am watching. I will keep you guys posted.

@DDW -  That would be amazing! The more the merrier right? And thanks for the compliment, I picked that side to post hoping the tattoo would distract ppl from the tummy flub. hehe

Here is a link to some exercises I found on that website.

    http://www.50millionpounds.com/resources/exercise.aspx

Or you could pick up some sort of instructional DVD like I did. I know some bee's are doing the 30 day Shred or P90x (something like that) I bet you get more insight on those if you browse the boards. I use Flirty Girl Fitness because its fun and it seriously kicks my butt, like the first time I did it I just laid down on hardwood floor and laid there and was sore for days.

Yay there are 4 of us now :) I'm glad that this thread encouraged you to do the shred tonight naangel. I was a lazy butt and went to sushi with my husband... which could've been healthy, but we got sweet potato fries as our appetizer Embarassed soo tasty, but probably full of seven million calories a bite.

I hope I have better news to report tomorrow!

@shannon- I tried the flirty girl videos and they ARE hard! Good for you, girl. I have a couple of jillian videos still in the plastic wrapping that i'll dig out tomorrow.

@ddw- I'm glad you're going to play along :) I'm going to post photos tomorrow I'm too lazy to do it tonight. There was another girl on here that posted really aweseme before and after photos of herself after she did Jillian Michaels 30 day shred so I'm going to try that! It's only $9 at Target. I think it's only 20 mins long so you could maybe combine that with a little bit of cardio and that would be a really good hour long workout.

I completely agree that we should find away to update each other weekly! That would be aaaaaamazing! Congrats DDW on posting pics, yay!

@wifey - I actually dont think sweet potato fries are that bad for you, obviously it depends on how they are fried but I have read quite a few diets that actually include them.

    Thanks @marywil!!!!

So ladies I just finished the "Abs & Booty" dvd from the Flirty Girl Fitness set and mt body is like that of a pudding substance, I would say jello but jello is a little more firm compared to what I my body feels like now. I have stuck pretty well to the meal plan all day and its surprisingly easy. Hopefully I can keep this up. As for what to name our posts...I have no idea???

Belly Busters works for me! That definitely seems to be our common goal!

I'm going to be late in the game, I'm afraid... I have to wait for 30 day shred to get here from the States. I found a toning/cardio routine on YouTube though, so I'm going to do that until it gets here. Starting tomorrow (no school today = no motivation).
