So Fi and I had our meeting this afternoon with he events coordinator from the National Aquarium in Baltimore and I think he and I both are on the same page and are ready to pull the trigger and reserve the location.

My concern/question is should we change our colors to match the venue? Originally we had a museum as our venue and our colors of Plum and Champagne would work wonderfully there because it was pretty much a blank marble palate. Now I'm wondering if the purple would clash amongst all the blues and greens of the ocean life and exhibits.

We are planning to have the ceremony in the underwater viewing area for the dolphins here:

And the reception in the open atrium here:

We MIGHT not be able to afford the separate rental for the gold chivari chairs. the basic ones they have are flat backed black plastic chairs.

Do you think it would work or should we consider adding in or changing the colors to include shades of blue? I think a light blue and champagne (FI is set on that color) would like nice, but I kinda had my heart set one plum/eggplant as purple is my favorite color. Or maybe just having my girls dresses black with purple flowers with a hint of blue... IDK..What do you think?

Why not plum, blue, and champagne?

I wanted purple colors but my sister had purples so I chose red AND purple and it was gooorgeous.

So then what color should the girls dresses be?

A purple or champagne color.... I don't think you'd want blue dresses against a blue background.

Oranges, reds and yellows would provide a better contrast against the bright blue

A mix if plum, navy and aqua would send you in the ways of the monochromatic look which is also very pretty

I totally agree with the oranges or reds suggestion.  When I was dream-planning my wedding for the aquarium (the same one!) I wanted my girls in dark red or burgundy dresses so they popped out from all the blue backgrounds.

I like the reds and oranges, I'm just afraid that is a little more bright and in your face than what I was initially going for. Also if I do decide to change to blue I am afraid of it blending in too much as some of you have mentioned.

WHY IS THIS SO CONFUSING?!?!? lol

I think plum and champagne would look just fine!  If you look at the second picture you posted, those are pretty much the colours in it and it looks great.

I'd keep them as is. I think the colors would pop against the blue plus look amazing in the reception area.

What about keeping the plum and champagne and adding in blues in the flowers and centerpieces, kind of tie in some of the venue colors with your original color scheme.

Thanks Bees! I think I'll keep my original colors and add in the blues to help blend and also make it pop. :o)
