I found this dress and I love.  But idk if its truly worth $4300 (and thats just the dress).  That doesn't include alterations, veil, shoes, blusher, and belt.

The dress looks beautiful on you but in all honesty, I think you could find a really, really similar dress for a lot less than $4300.  I'm not good at finding dresses (shoes are more my thing) but I'm sure some of the Queen "dress finding" Bees could direct you to some really similar dresses.

That said, if the $4300 is in your budget and you're comfortable spending it, go for it!  I'm just concerned that you're worried about the price (before even touching veil, alterations, etc) and I think you can find the "same" dress for less.  Or have you looked for it used online?

That dress is a stunner! But we can't tell you if it's too much, only you know your budget and what you can afford. If you're not comfortable with the price I'd say continue trying on dresses in lower price ranges. You never know, you might find something you love just as much or more, for less money.

I think its beautiful but $4300 is different to everyone unfortunately, so it depends on what you think is "worth it" and depending on your budget!

I am sure you can find something JUST as beautiful for less though if you are trying to save! Good Luck on your decision!

@Mrs.KMM:I've looked all over for it used on line and can't find anything.  If I purchased it  I would have to downsize on invites, centerpieces, and transportation to afford it too.

i've seen a few dresses that look similar...one was pronovias. it's gorgeous, but is it worth it to you to skimp in other areas? i would definitely look for similar dresses first. if you can't find anything, you'll have to decide just how important the dress is to you!

@BlushingBride12: In that case, I would keep looking if there's still time to put an order in for this dress. You can always still come back to it if you don't find anything else you love as much.

It looks awesome, but I agree with PPs--I'm sure you can find something almost identical for a fraction of the cost.

it kind of just depends on your overall budget for the wedding.

For someone who has a 30k  budget for their big day, i think 4300 is a very reasonable price to pay.

However, my budget for the wedding is 12k, and therefore I could only spend 1k on my dress.

As someone having a 32k wedding I can tell you this dress would have killed my budget. I'd keep looking for now and see if you can find a similar dress for less.

I'd say it's worth it if you love it. I'd cut out other things before I slack back on my dress. Also, my dress budget will not be in the wedding budget pot AND we plan to have a destination wedding.

Set your priorities - if the dress is the most important thing for you then spend the money on it, but for me, I would look for something I loved as much that is more affordable and not skimp on other things for a dress I will wear once.   Invitations are keepsakes for some people, centerpieces help set the mood in your reception room and transportation is important!  But some people don't care about those things.  So yeah, long way to say what I already said - set your priorities!!  :)

    ps--totally fun dress!

You look great in that dress. I think it depends on your budget, if you can make it work and you love it then go for it. But I think you can find very similar styles by other designers for a lot cheaper.

In the realm of couture dress, $4300 isn't all that much. Your answers to these questions would determine if it's worth it it you:

Have you looked around enough and tried on enough dresses and had the feeling nothing even comes close? Like a PP suggested, I've seen similar dresses from Pronovias and from other designers as the mermaid silhouette and ruffles are both very popular right now. Would a less expensive look alike make you happy, or is there something about this dress (silk fabric, detail, fit etc)  that makes it a lot better than the look alikes in your opinion? Even though it may be more than what you initially planned, is there room in your budget without breaking the bank? Will you be fine cutting costs from something else to have this dress if necessary? If you've answered yes to all these questions, then yes, the dress is worth it.

It depends on if you think it's worth it. You look stunning in the dress, but I feel like for $4300 there could be more bling on it. If you are having questions about the price, you will probably question it the entire time of your planning process.

You look great in it but you would look good in anything lol. Personally, I think you can find a similiar dress for a better price.

What dress is it? What materials is it made of? If it is polyester or taffeta for 4300, then no, it's probably not worth it. But if its a great brand and quality materials (silk, for example), then it is probably about right :)

I personally don't think it is worth it. What you are really paying for is the name rather than the dress. I have seen so many much cheaper dresses that look almost identical. If I find a picture I will show it to you. Again, just my opinion. If you can afford it and you can't live without it, that is your dress and buy that baby! But if you feel it is a bit pricey and want to keep looking, I wouldn't blame you. It does look amazing on you though.

I'm very certain that you can find a similar style for half that price. Just take your time to browse other designers websites and you will get your dream dress for less!

@kfricke89:You're right.  Initially I thought it was too much but because its a wedding gown and not any other dress I feel pressured to spend more on a gown to make "the once in the lifetime" experience feel over the top.

@meliss:If I found a look alike I would certainly get it.  I just worry I will regret it or that it won't have the WOW factor I think every bride wants.  Everyone keeps referencing a similiar gown by Pronovias, I'll have to check that out. I hope its much cheaper.

@April_Fools_Bride: you should post a pic of your dress. I remember it being similar to this one, only with a one strap. Maybe the OP would like it?

Maggie Sottero just came out w one that looks like that: http://www.maggiesottero.com/dress.aspx?pageSize=100&style=J1432

It's guaranteed to be, at most, half of what your gown costs.  Have the neckline tailored and you are in business.  PS is your gown a Pronovias?

I don't have any issues with spending that kind of money on a dress.  And that dress looks phenomenal on you.  However, it is a very common silhouette and I think you could easily find something close enough at a lower price, even if it was silk.  Pronovias is one, Paloma Blanca is another (style 4162).  If you can't find something close enough, then get the dress you want!

It looks great...but I could never spend that much on a dress!  My dress got stepped on, stained, torn...

I think you can find a similar one for less.  But great style!

I think it depends on the budget.  If your budget is 20K, then I would say most def it's not worth it - you can find something similar that is less expensive.  However if your budget is at least 40K then I would say if you love it, go for it!

Edited to add - You look amazing in it!  :)

Have you looked into getting a sample for a much lower price? This is a modern trousseau mika dress, which looks very similar to the one you posted, that retails at about $4000, but is listed here for half that

I voted no because of the many of the same reasons listed above. I'm sure that Maggie will look equally stunning on you with the advantage of a better price point.
