So, I'm having a wedding on the beach. It's my second marriage (FI's 1st) and the first time around I got married in Vegas in my regular clothes so to do it right this time was important to me. I found my dress last night and was so excited. Everyone I've showed it to so far except one says they like it. Here's the problem...one of my closest friends had this to say about it:
OK, I disagree. I don’t think it looks good on you. I don’t think that style is flattering on you at all.Sorry, but I have to tell the truth. I couldn’t keep silent and then have you get it. At least now if you do get it, I won’t feel like I was a jerk for not saying anything.

Your friend doesn't know what she's talking about, IMO. That dress shows off your awesome figure. You have a great bust, defined waist, and it opens to a flowy skirt which will be perfect for a beach wedding! I think you look fantastic!

I think the dress is perfect. I looks great on you and I love it for a beach wedding. It does show that you have curves if that's what she's talking about, but your curves are great. She crazy!
I think the dress looks gorgeous on you!! What is your friend talking about? What doesn't she like about it?? I think it's flattering for your figure, the waist part is slimming, the skirt part is flowy and pretty, it's very appropriate for a beach wedding. Is this a good friend of yours who's always been supportive of you? Or is she one of those competitive friends that sometimes get jealous? You really have to consider the source on this one. Anyway, it's pretty, looks great on you!

Ok so with the anonymity of this website I feel free to be as honest as possible and this is my HONEST opinion: That dress looks beautiful! It hits you in all the right places. Does that friend have a different style than you? Do you think maybe she's thinking that it's more simple than she expected? Also if you want something that is VERY flattering with a similar shape/style look at the Maggie Sottero Brigidine, it's not all that amazing on the webstie but the dress on a real human (not a model--they're not humans to me;) looks uh-mayzing. I worked at a bridal shop and it was always one of my favorites, one of my brides actually wore it to a destination wedding! (Not trying to make things difficult, haha). But as I said, you look AMAZING!

I think that dress looks great on you! Perfect for the beach...I'm getting married on the beach as well and they had me try on that dress too! Said it's popular with beach brides. I ended up going with something else because I wasn't about the strapless...but it looks great on you!
If you love it then go for it. In the end all taht matters is what you think
Your friend needs to stop huffing glue while emailing...that dress looks GREAT on you. I think she needs to chill out and keep her rude comments to herself when she is clearly wrong! GET THE DRESS!!!
She must be jealous or something because you look GREAT! I think I tried that dress on too at DB and at the time I thought it would be perfect for a beach wedding.
Nuh uh---it's great for you! I love the detailing around the chest and the swag to your left side with the little lacey looking part--it's just kind hard to see right there. Nope, I think your friend is wrong. Like some other girls said, do you think she just has a totally different style than you do? It's very flattering for your nice figure and makes your waist look the way it should in a wedding dress, tiny and hourglassy :) LOVE IT!

100% honestly and truly, I think you look AMAZING in this dress. The details are lovely. The shape looks fabulous on you. AND you are totally glowing in the picture you posted. I can't even begin to imagine why she said that, because this dress looks PERFECT on you! Wear it with confidence!
I agree she's crazy! It looks great! But a word of caution, I bought my dress to early in the engagement and couldn't get away from it after I'd fallen in love with a different one(my moms to be exact) so make sure this is absolutely the dress you want!
I think it looks great! You have a good figure for wedding dresses. I think this one is pretty, but honestly you could probably try on bunches and get the same response. If you love the dress, go for it!
I am going to be honest, I am not in love with this dress on you. I like the top half, but it's the bottom half that I don't think is flattering. I think you have a curvy figure that would look great in a fit and flare dress. I think this dress makes you look wider across the hips instead of accentuating your curves.
Like your close friend...I see by previous comments that my opinion is the minority one here...but it is my honest opinion.
Is your friend jealous of you? I can't imagine why else she'd say that dress isn't flattering. You look fantastic!

I have no idea why she would say that, it is DEFINITELY flattering on you. That dress would be flattering on most girls!
Maybe she just thinks it's not your personal style or something, and it's throwing her off to see you in that type of dress?
i think it's ok- it fits your body pretty well, but i think that this dress looks like ALOT of other dresses of other bees. I feel like your dress should be one that everyone can rememeber as uniquely yours, not something that they can say at your wedding, "oh her dress looks like so and so's did.."
Your dress is beautiful and flatters your body perfectly. Your friend has no idea what they are talking about. This is YOUR wedding, get the dress that YOU want and don't worry about what anyone else says!
If it helps at all, I went shopping with my 'maids and there was one dress that I really loved, and they thought it was just "ok". There was also another dress that I relly didn't like but they were absolutely in love with. I kept thinking about it, and I realized that if I bought the dress THEY loved but I didn't love, I would completely regret it on my wedding day. I kept thinking, I wish the skirt started a little higher, I wish it had more rhinestones, I would want to change it this way and that way and I wouldn't be able to enjoy my wedding because I would be so busy thinking about how my dress wasn't just perfect.
Tell your BMs that this is your dress, and it's the one you like, and darn it, it looks great on you!
Yeah I have to chime in here, I think the dress truly is flattering on you. I don't see one person here who thought different, and I think all of us would have said so in a nice way if we did. Maybe your friend just was expecting something different based on your everyday style or is looking at it thinking of what she would wear herself. I think it looks really awesome on you.
I think that's a universally flattering style and it looks great on you! When I read your post, before scrolling down, I was expecting to see maybe an overweight bride in a dress that's too tight or something...And then when I saw the pic I was like "what?!". Beautiful dress, beautiful girl, great fit. I say buy it and wear it proudly!
Yeah, your friend is crazy (sorry!). You look absolutely beautiful and I think that is such a nice beach wedding dress (the skirt will be AWESOME in the breeze).

I think you look super pretty and also agree your friend doesn't know what she is tlaking about. and I also have to mention that my FI's friend who is also getting married, his fi got this same exact dress, and it is super pretty more so in person.
So where does the unflattering fit come in??? Those photos are both gorgeous. I bought my dress without a single person looking at it besides myself for several reasons. Your inappropriate friend's comments are one reason. The second is b/c my mother would have wanted me to wear some crazy poufy princess thing. Yuck.

My dress has the same "pulled to the side" look, and I love it! I fell in love with the same dress as you are wearing on the website, and when I tried it on I loved it, but I found another dress the same day that I loved even more lol.

Looks great on you. Maybe she thinks it's not beach appropriate. Hmm. I'd me a little worried about sand clingling to the organza layer that's a little no longer than the underskirt, but no biggie.
