Yesterday I went dress shopping with my MOH, mom and grandma. First stop was a smaller upscale boutique that was really helpful in finding the dress. After about 8 or 9 dresses I knew I had fallen in love with a Maggie Sottero. But since this was our first time dress shopping we decided to honour the other apointment we had made that day and go check out other stores.

The one store we visited didn’t have the MS dress in their salon, but is able to order it and for $250 less (and they are also an authorized retailer)! It seems like a bit of a no-brainer, but I was less impressed with the other store in terms of cleanliness (and also their sales people telling me that if I didn’t like the quoted price of alterations that a lot of them do it out of their homes….weird!). Both places said they would cover the tax (13%)- the first one said only if I paid in full but the second place said even if I just put down half.

I should mention that my mom is the one paying for the dress eventually, but I am covering the upfront cost. I really liked the first salon better, but is it worth it to go to the other store and get the dress because it’s cheaper? Are there other questions I should ask both places before I make up my mind? Is it likely to give me an idea of alterations costs??
