I was researching one company I have applied to and their FAQ’s said that they do not give out the HM’s contact info and instead to contact HR for any questions. I have done so and they just told me “I’ll ask the Honeymoon and get back to you.”. I formerly worked in HR so I understand that some specific questions (like the one I currently have) really are more aimed towards the hiring managers. With more researching I saw that the hiring managers’ numbers actually were on the website, right on the directory page.
Should I call or assume they don’t want to be called? FYI, it’s really not to sell myself more to them, it’s just to ask a question about the hiring process.

Do not call them. If you want to follow up (which you have already done), you should keep it to email so that you aren’t disrupting his or her day. Wait it out.

It’s not the right time. If you get an interview you will have the opportunity to ask the Honeymoon questions.

If they direct you to talk to HR, definitely don’t call the hiring managers. I know it can be a bit of a frustrating process, but deviating from the company’s request may hurt you as a candidate for the job.

As they have said to contact HR not the hiring managers, do not call the Honeymoon. It will hurt your application I am sure

@edub: I would agree…if you get an interview, then you can get your questions answered. Honestly, though…the “I’ll pass this to the HM” is almost always a blow off. I work in staffing and this has been my experience.

It just sucks to know I used to be that HR person to turn to and I knew absolutely nothing when any candidates had questions I knew my manager could answer. Ugh! Patience is definitely a virtue I wish I had.
