I was getting my boyfriend’s wallet out of his jacket (he had my debit card because he ran through the ATM for me on his way to work) and out fell a receipt from a store called “Diamonds Forever” (local place in Toledo)
Of course I could not resist when I saw that. I was not expecting it at all. Maybe a necklace or earrings or something with Christmas around the corner. We have been talking about it but we are young (I am 21 and he is 22) and I am still in nursing school and he just started his career about a month ago. The receipt pretty much told me everything because it was hand written. 0.6 carat, white gold, vintage, princess cut… I am super excited but disappointed that I won’t be surprised.
Do I try to sell that I’m surprised when he asks or do I just tell him I found the receipt? At least I didn’t find the ring because I don’t know exactly what it looks like yet.

Well, WHEN it comes will still be a surprise, and so will the design of the ring. I wouldn’t say anything & just enjoy the suspense!

@mstreac: Oh, hun, you’re going to be so super excited regardless! I wouldn’t ruin the big moment for him. I’m sure he’s mucking up enough courage to propose and took time to figure the proposal out! I’m sure it’s going to be a wonderful surprise even though now you’re aware a ring was purchased. =) I can’t wait to hear the proposal story!

You still haven’t seen it, and I can assure you, you may think you’ve looked at rings on this site till you can’t look no more, but honey, you ain’t seen YOUR ring yet, and no matter what you know, clapping eyes on it will still take your breath away…I promise.

I’d say, don’t say anything. You still don’t know exactly what it looks like or when it’s coming. Vintage? Oooh so many pretty possibilities!
I was initially disappointed, because my then-SO insisted on asking soooo many questions about what I wanted. I too felt that the surprise factor was gone, and would make my proposal less special. How wrong I was!
Pleeeeeaaasssseeee post pictures when you get it!

This happened to me too! He didn’t propose for another month, and I just about died with anticipation!

Thanks for the feedback everyone! You have all convinced me not to tell him I found it. I am very excited about the word “vintage” I know there is no possible way to find out what it looks like by google or anything because vintage can mean so many different things!!! AHHHHH I cannot wait.
@beachbride2014 if he waits another month you all might want to look for me in a mental hospital. I CANNOT TAKE THE SUSPENSE.
I think it might be longer then a month!! He is from Philadelphia and we visit his family there a lot. Our next planned trip there is in January. I can see him waiting until then because he knows how much I love that city. It is going to be SO HARD TO WAIT THAT LONG IF HE IS PLANNING ON WAITING UNTIL THEN. But it will be well worth it.

I found my ring receipt almost 2 weeks ago and I had to lock myself in the bathroom to do a 5 minute happy dance/calm down session. Well, I know it comes by Dec 11 and I seriously doubt I will need to “act” surprised. I’ll probably be a crying, laughing, giddy mess when he pops the question and I’m sure you will be too!

Well, BF told me yesterday to get packing because we are going to Philadelphia December 26th through January 2nd. We didn’t think we were going to be able to go until the end of January or beginning of February but my boss randomly told me I had the 31st and 1st off. (Those were the only days I had to work keeping us from going)
So I am thinking BF called my boss and pulled some strings… I have a feeling I am going to leave for Philly with a BF and come back with an FI!!!

@mstreac: Oh how exciting!! You must keep us all posted!

YAY so exciting! And good luck. I knew FI had bought the ring (he is an idiot and left his email open on my computer. OPEN. The actual email. At least I know he could never hide anything bad) It was still the most excitingest thing ever. Don’t say anything, you’ll probably scare him.
