I would suggest going to MAC and checking out their spray on foundation. It's supposed to give great coverage!
Have you tried a primer or a base? I use Bare Escentuals, and use their primer, which works well. For the wedding day, though, I feel I need a little extra help, and I think I am going with airbrush makeup. It's a little more expensive than a regular makeup application, but I think it will look great in pics.
Good luck!
Bare Escentuals isn't heavy enough for your wedding day I think. I used Clinique SuperFit (or Fit, whatever it is) and i slept in it....yes, fell asleep....all night long....woke up with all my foundation on and dry skin, not oily/greasy/foundationy mess
Pleasantly surprised. Oh, and no breakout after I cleaned my face up! And it didn't end up all over my pillow either
I just bought some Almay smart shade foundation a few days ago. I put it on the other night before we went out to dinner and my guy actually noticed AND said my skin looked amazing...which is a huge compliment from him as he usually prefers me with no makeup. :)
My skin also tends to be dry with some oily patches and I really like the Almay so far.
there is also some cargo HD makeup that is really nice it makes your skin look great in photos since it was designed for tv and HD!
this may sound really heavy and time consuming ... but sometimes i use the chicken breading technique~
1. Moisturize your face with your everyday skincare - (the part where you egg the chicken cutlet)
2. Brush over with loose powder - (flouring the cutlet)
3. with a sponge DAB your fluid, cream, foundation in a stippling motion and blend well for an airbrushed finish. Never smear on foundation .. it will leave streaks. - (breading the cutlet)
4. Quickly brush over with loose powder again - ( ... adding more breading(?))
like VISTAGIRL .. i fell in love with CARGO's HD line. For FULL coverage try KEVIN AU COIN's skin enhancer. It's a little pricey considering the size. But a little bit goes a LONG way with this product.
i hope this helps~
I use Make Up For Ever HD Primer and Foundation and I've found that it stays put and covers really well without feeling like you're wearing layers of makeup.
For my engagement pics, my MUA used Dior Airflash and I loved that as well. It's a spray on foundation.
Sephora carries both of those; they also carry the Cargo Blu-Ray/HD makeup that Vistagirl mentioned. Good luck!
I'd say try MAC. I use their Studio FX pressed powder foundation and love it. I'd also recomend checking out Prescriptives (Px). They do a color matching sysem that works pefrectly. I use both of these and I'm so happy with how my skin looks.
Also check into getting a primer.
You need a primer, and to touch up with a pressed powder as you get oily. Don't use foundations with SPF, as they make you look greasy with flash photography. Try MAC foundation, or Laura Mercier foundation.
I have heard many, many people swear by Laura Mercier foundation. I haven't tried it yet, but I am thinking about investing myself. :)
I'm another Make Up Forever HD Foundation fan! It leaves your face looking flawless but it's not cakey..coverage is great (enough to cover my scars) and stays on my face all day ..i use smashbox primer before i put foundation on..and both seem to work great on my oily face.
Jina- your chicken breading technique worked really well. I still don't like my actual foundation though. I think I'm going to try the smashbox primer too.
Does anyone have any opinions on cliniques different foundations? I saw a pp about it and I used to use some and liked it, but that was years ago.
Hey Kourtann ... maybe perhaps it's the tool you're using... what did you use to apply your foundation?
try using a sponge wedge ... http://sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P12282&categoryId=B70
or the stippling brush ... http://sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P148005&categoryId=B70
i usually have a hard time recommending products cuz what works for me, may not for you .. a great way for you to find your product might be to shop at sephora ... they accept returns with full money back even after use if the product doesn't work for you.
I really like Laura Mercier foundation. It stays on really well, but doesn't feel heavy. It's a little pricey, but I've found it was worth it.
Thanks Kourtann for this post. I just ran out of my BE foundation and while I do like it I am searching for something new. I am going to have to be brave and try one of the brands mentioned above.
Thanks Ladies!!
Unfortunately sephora isn't really an option. I hate ordering things like makeup online without seeing it, i've been burned too many times for that. And the nearest sephora is over 3.5 hours from me.
I started using a makeup sponge, so we'll see how that goes. Thanks for all the great answers ladies!

I am so frustrated!! ugh!! I feel like I have tried a million different foundations and they all slide off my face halfway during the day.(sometimes it's more like 2 hours into my day.) i have dry skin, but do tend to get oily spots during the day. I like medium to full coverage foundation, does anyone have any recommendations for foundation that won't disappear?? P.S. I have used bare minerals and while I do like it, I like cream foundations better. TIA!
