Freaking Out

posted 2 months ago in Beehive

Ok I'm a Stupid Idiot . Or am at least feeling like one right now. I HAD long same length hair. I went to my regular stylist this morning and said I wanted to put  long layers in. Maybe three inch difference , keep the length. Well... thats not what happened . my hair looks ok i guess. my mom really likes it but I'm freaking out . I have curly hair and live in florida so it just tents to frizz. I worried on how it will look for my wedding in march. And just am having a fit in general . Please Please Please I'm needing some encouragement that this was not the WRONG thing . Thanks ladies.

First I'm sure you look great b/c your mom likes it, and in my experience moms don't lie about hair.

Second, I have layered curly hair too and the BEST products I have ever come across are these:

http://www.devaconcepts.com/

Two tips from them that I will never stop doing: don't use shampoo (use their cream rinse instead) and don't towel dry your hair (scrunch with a cotten t-shirt).  Curly hair can be very dry and the key to no frizz is moisture!

I'm basically obsessed with these products and have talked almost every curly haired woman in my family into using them. If you want more info pm me!

First, I am sure that it looks better than you think...we are our own worst critics!

Next, you have until March to grow it out...assuming that you want to grow it back out,you have plenty of time, girl! No worries at all!

I also swear by the devacurl line. Their products are awesome (and smell delicious). I have very very curly hair and I always ask my stylist to put in long layers. It really helps with the curl definition and not getting "triangle head." Don't panic when you just got it cut this morning. It will take a few days for your hair to adjust to its new style. And by March it will have had lots of time to grow out if you want to change it up.

Aw, I'm sorry babe! I have curly hair too, and I know how bad cut-shock can be. But put it this way: you have 5 months to grow your hair out, which won't get everything as long as it was, but close. And also, you'll be amazed at what a good stylist can do on your wedding day. If you wear your hair down, it will be gorgeous (as all curly hair is), and if you wear it up or have a veil, then the length won't matter anyway!

I totally feel your pain. My advice is to pull it back, sleep on it, shower, and look at it after you've styled it YOUR way in the morning. If you still don't like it, call the salon and at least get a refund! Don't worry, though. I always hate the way my hair looks after the salon (unless they straightened it!) and I have to do it myself before I can really judge the cut.

Also, just fyi, I've used Devacurl before and I gotta say...for me, it wasn't worth the extra moolah, even if it did smell scrumptious. But I have fairly smooth hair (even though it's curly, it's not coarse), so maybe I'm not the best test subject!
