Oh man - that totally sucks! I would so be freaking out too!
I would still keep looking when you have time (just in case). You will probably be ok if you rush your passport application - just make sure it is totally ready to go so as soon as you get your new birth cert you can send it away! Good luck!
my friend recently had to get a rush passport and even though they told her it could take a week or two, she ended up getting it within a matter of days. meanwhile, keep looking while you're waiting for the birth certificate. good luck!
@dance: agreed. we already plan on going through everything in our house again tonight. i think the main problem is that we moved right after my last trip (like within a month) so i have no idea where to even start looking. i do, however, already have all of my paperwork for the passport filled out and ready to go. i'm sure things will work out, but the stress of doing things so last minute just kind of sucks.

omg, it was glorious. we searched the house for 4 hours last night - top to bottom. i had a drawer that the passport has always been in, so finally after 4 hours, i was like "oh, maybe it's inside the nightstand BEHIND the drawer." so we pulled the drawer out and looked inside again ....and there it was.

wow! thats great to hear. I was getting stressed for you reading your post. I am hoping all of your other planning is wrapping up as we fastly approach 9/25.
OMG, I'm so relieved for you! I would of been freaking the freak out too. I hate that feeling of pure panic. Glad you don't have to worry about it for the next 3 weeks!

so, i was pretty sure i knew where my passport was but didn't think to double-check until this past weekend. and guess what, it wasn't there. and we can't find it anywhere in the house. i last traveled internationally in december, but since then, we bought a place and moved and i'm guessing it just got lost in the shuffle? we completely tore the house apart looking for it and i've given up...
today, i figured i can just go through the passport process and pay the ungodly amount to have it rushed and just deal with it (since we get married 9/25 and leave for panama on 9/28). and here's the fun part - i need my birth certificate too, which i kept with my passport. i haven't gotten stressed this entire wedding planning process and now i'm officially freaking out. i ordered a new birth certificate today, but that takes about a week, and THEN i still have to do the whole passport thing. and yes - we leave exactly 3 weeks from today.
not really sure what i'm looking for with this post. i'm just freaking out at work and not really knowing what i can do. i mean i've ordered all i can and now just have to wait. on top of that, i'm busy at work AND still planning the wedding. ugh...
