@Future_Mrs_Fierce:  Can’t they just use the court staff? That’s what we’re doing … ? I’d call and ask!

I ditto the court staff! Or invite an alternate!

Are you having a photographer? You could use them. I am fairly sure you can get random passersby to help if you find yourself without enough witnesses too. There are usually a whole bunch of people at the courthouse waiting around for various things, so grabbing someone shouldn’t be too hard. I wouldn’t pressure your sister into doing something she doesn’t want to do.

@Future_Mrs_Fierce:  Maybe he will think less of her as a result, but if you explain it the way you have explained it to us here, hopefully he will understand. I would guess this is not going to be the first or last time you and her clash over religious differences, so he may as well understand the full story. It is somewhat weird that she is willing to attend and take photos but not sign, but people can be odd about these things. Hell, my mother turned down our request that she be a witness because she was worried the other parents would “be jealous” that she had some kind of special status, heh. You will definitely find someone, though, so don’t stress about it too much. You meet a lot of cool people waiting in line at the courthouse.

@Future_Mrs_Fierce:  My job requires me to do some business with our county clerk’s office- the people that perform courthouse elopements & issue licenses. I’ve seen quite a few couples use random people that were in the office at the same time. Most people are more than happy to take 5-10 minutes out of their day to witness a marriage!

@Future_Mrs_Fierce:  I’d call ahead to ask if you can use two people there.  It’s not mandatory that you actually KNOW your witnesses.  I have never heard of any place required you walk through the door with your own peeps!

As for explaining it to your fiance about sister, well that is a different problem to solve another day.
