Does anyone know of a free and quite good anti-virus program I can download to my laptop? I have Windows 7 Starter.

I know that Spybot (google it I think) will scan and delete virus files, but is not continuous--you must scan every time you want it to check.

my BIL worked at best buy for a while and knew a lot about computers.  he cleaned up all of our laptop and recommended AVG.  theres a free version and a premium pay version.  he told us the free version is fine and protects just as well as norton which takes up a lot of space on your hard drives.  just google AVG

I agree with mmauricio. My FFIL is a self employed computer God, and he put AVG on my computer.

I third this! My SO is a computer programmer and put AVG on my little laptop :) I've had no problems with it!

I used AVG for a long time, and had no problems with it. We switched to using Kapersky Anti-Virus becuase FI got it on sale for $15, and it is supposedly the best (according to reviews), but you have to pay for it. I liked both - just go with AVG, its free and good!

Free AVG is what my hubs would suggest and he uses this on his client's computers and our own. He is a Network/ Desktop/ Systems Admin, btw.
