I have had someone contact me about helping them set up their reception and they will help with mine.  Has anyone done this?  How did it turn out?  Her wedding is before mine and I'm sort of worried that she will flake on mine.  I don't know her that well at all.

I've heard people refer to this on the Knot, but no...I haven't had any personal experience.

I did that and I haven't been able to reach the girl I helped.  I am going to email her to see if she will really help out at my wedding.

Don't be like me.  If you do it and you are the first one, see if you can get a deposit of $100-$200 that you will give back to her on your wedding.  Because then if she ends up not holding up her part of the bargain, you at least got paid for your time.
