In conversation w/ my sister (with whom I am very close) I mentioned that she and her hubby could give me and my FI flier miles for our wedding gift....that would cover the cost of our honeymoon fights (TBD).

They have enough and are prepared to do it!  They could afford to give us actual wedding gifts for our wedding, but why not?  My FI is only a year into his medical residency and doesn't make a lot of money so my salary quasi-supports us both.  We live in the city and are saving for a house...so the savings of $$$ on expensive flights for our honeymoon I think is a great idea.

Would you accept a similar wedding gift?  Do you think it is weird?

My parents are doing the same thing and paying for our round trip tickets to Italy. i don't see anything wrong with it if your sister offered.

Technically I brought it up....half jokingly.  She jumped at the opportunity though!

    I think it's very generous.

She and your BIL probably couldn't afford to purchase your flights, so I think it's a generous gift.  Plus- they could have used it for themselves, so they're basically giving your their vacation!

That's how we got to cozumel, my dad let us use his airline miles to cover our flights and it was the only way that we were able to since we paid for our wedding. We were so grateful that we were able to do that and I would gladly accept them anytime, lol.
