Friday, Aug 1st 2014 here!

Our venue set our “invitational” at 5:30 for a 6pm ceremony but I’m thinking of printing out the invites for 5pm because the venue is an hour away from most family members and we know there’s going to be traffic …don’t know if this is okay to do though…thank god we’ve got time for those invited lol

@Kea1228:  I’m having the same issues myself.  Just set for a Friday and was thinking a 5pm ceremony but the regular DJ for that venue says we should start earlier (we have an early cutoff time for a Friday – 10pm).  Do you have a lot of out-of-town guests?  I originally felt bad that so many people needed to travel but it has turned out in everyone’s favor.  All of our friends live and work local to the venue, my family non-immediate is mostly retired so they could drive down early enough to avoid traffic with no issues, and the FI’s family is having to fly in from several states so they’ll be here Thursday morning probably and staying in a local hotel.  The logistics may be more difficult, but I feel the cost savings was well worth it.

I’m having a Friday wedding next October & we are starting at 7PM! It was suggested by our venue since it will give our guests time to get there, so they won’t have to take off from work. It is a little bit later but most of our vendors agreed it would be better that way! Setting that time settled a lot of my uncertainties.

@Kea1228:  Yes we are date twins! Yay! I hope anyone can share their experience because we are worried about rush hour in Atlanta too.

We’re having a friday wedding and I’ve heard great things about them. You’re guests and yourself get an extra day to recover. Our ceremony is at 3pm, which we only expect our closest family showing up and then our reception is 5pm to 1am. It was half the cost for us along with bar upgrades, reception extension etc!

I was a Friday bride and it was wonderful. We didn’t have any issues, got discounts and we and our guests were able to enjoy the weekend afterwards. The only person that really complained didn’t work and was retired, absolutely pointless. All in all I wold do it again in a heart beat!

@MrsP0801:  This is what I have done so far; dress and venue.. Everything else I am not sure of. I did select a BM dress but I think I want to change it, since my BM do not have an opinion on what they want to wear. So I am going to go and try on some dresses and tell them what the price is and they can order it in February. I only have two Divas here in Atlanta, 3 boston, 1 SC and 1 LA. It’s going to be hard to see them all at once, I want them to go try it on and take photos but that hasn’t happened yet.

What about you?

@Kea1228:  I’m getting married on a Friday! But in May… Not in September. At first FI and I were pretty dead set against Friday originally but the more we looked into prices, the more we decided it was our best option. Obviously for pricing reasons but also bc although out of towN guests will have to miss Friday from work, they will also have the weekend off and not be rushed to return home on a Sunday night.

I’m getting married on Friday! September 19, 2014.  My wedding and reception are both located at the reception venue.  My wedding will begin at 6:30. Cocktail hour 7-8 and the reception is from 8-12:30.

We too are making the invitation a bit earlier so our attendees will get there on time.
