So we are having our ceremony and recpetion on a friday night in February. We live in NY, and the venue is in NJ (which to most guest its about 1 1/2 hours away. Very few Out of Town guest. Is it a bad idea to do it on a friday? Being that I didnt have a wedding, this is my “big party” so I would hope everyone can come. The ceremony is starting at 7pm to allow people to get thier. My mom said to do it on saturday but since it wasnt available and shes not paying for it, it was doable.

I would be a little worried about guests not being able to make it there on time. I don’t know what traffic is like out there, though. Maybe you could try doing a test drive from NY to your venue on a Friday night, and see how long it takes. If people get off work at 5, they have to go home, get dressed, and drive out to the venue…which might take longer than 2 hours :/

If its an evening do and most guests are not coming out of town, I don’t personally think this is a huge issue, especially with so much notice given. 🙂

Since it’s starting at 7:00, I see no problem with the time. We’re getting married on a Friday night too, at 6:00pm and many guests are at least a 45 minute drive away from the venue. People want to be there for you, it’s your day to mark something special. The most important people will be there, that’s why your inviting them 🙂
