SO defrosted the fridge early yesterday morning, and since then it’s been louder than usual. It sounds like it should be cooling, the compressor is running but damnit, none of our stuff is cool and the minimal things we had in the freezer have completely defrosted over the last day! It’s an older fridge (without a ‘defrost’ mode), we bought it second hand about 2.5 years ago. All he did to defrost it was turn it off and de-ice the inside. How can that have wrecked the fridge?! Or how did it decide to stop working on the same day it was defrosted?! DAMN!
Anyone know anything about fridges? We may have to find someone to come out and take a look at it, but due to its age we may need to just get a new one 🙁

@Deejayelle: we had an issue with our fridge not cooling – it needed a new fan. We have a home warranty so we didn’t have to pay for the repair, but I think the bill was around $200 for parts and labor to Fix it.

have you pulled it out and cleaned the trays/fins under and behind the fridge? I have one very tempermental fridge in our shop which refuses to cool if there is any dust on the fins…
Good luck with the fridge I hope it all works out

Thanks for all the tips! We tried to suss it out, but in the end, we had to call someone in to look at it. Apparently it’s had a slow gas leak for a few months! The guy said there isn’t much we can do to fix that, so we got a huge fridge from the second hand shop! How good it is to have a cool drink! 😀
