Oh yes, this is at my state fair right now! It comes with dipping sauces. I won't be one that will partake in this food adventure.
I have a picture of me when I was little breaking into the fridge and eating a stick a butter....who knows? this could be right up my alley :D lol
They showed a kid eating it like a corn dog while the melted butter ran down his arm (ouch?) and showed a closeup as just batter with nothing inside.
FI knows of a family that had a daughter who would eat sticks of butter.
I hate butter. I hate when my family puts a glob of it on their potato, corn on the cob, etc. I hate that his family likes butter as well. It grosses me out for some reason.
Well I guess we have a new suggetion for ladies who want to gain weight......
not that its healthy but it works.
They had this at our state fair, I saw it on the news also. It looks so disgusting! I described it to my FI as "fat fried in fat".
I am willing to bet it's at the Iowa State Fair, which is happening right now. I will not make it back for the fair but I am craving a pork chop on a stick and other deliciousness.
@galloway111: I think Kansas does it too but our fair isn't until September. Last year their were fried Krispy Kremes at the KS State Fair. Gross.
Edit: On second thought, I don't think the Krispy Kremes were fried.. I think they made a hamburger out of them. But still we had an array of different fried things.
This would go straight to my hips... butter balls... LOL
Someone on my facebook from my home state (WI) posted a picture of fried beer! (It looked like ravioli. So weird). And I've seen a few fried butter pics. I'm all about fried stuff on sticks, but seriously I think that's taking it too far. Fried twinkies, pickles, snickers, cheese, etc = ok, fried butter = no thanks.
I might try it... it looks like it might not be much different from a buttered roll just reversed.

At first I was thinking something like this

Ohio State fair just ended here and this is nothing really new to us, though I've never had it. We pretty much will fry anything here I guess. It's frozen beforehand and it's not a stick of butter but like chips almost like fried pickles. My friend had it on a dare and said it was actually very good.
@HappilyEverAfter, your last pic is the one they used when showing how it was made. The butter stick (on a stick) is then dipped in batter and deep-fried before serving to the customer, from what they showed on the news.
The local news just showed people eating it, since the state fair opened today. It looked absolutely disgusting. When people bit into it, melted butter shot out the other end..... nough said
I'll be at the Iowa fair tomorrow and I've heard a bunch of people talking about it....I just want to see it! I won't lie, I'm kind of curious but I just couldn't live with myself after raising my cholesterol 100 points! :)
Oh I would try it.
When I was little, when we'd go to restaurants and they'd bring the basket of rolls out, I would always take an extra little packet of butter and eat it straight off my finger. Tasty.
@Ember78: Yeah I figured =) but I meant that's what I thought it looked like fried! lol

Was watching a segment on the local news tonight about fair food novelties across the country. This one just sounded awful, but Paula Deen would probably love it.
