yes you read the title right.... stripper shoes. i was agast! i love my shoes and tey make me feel tall and i tihnk they are GEORGOUS! what do you bees think? i tihnk they are way appropriate but i may be skewed by my love of platforms...
Did they say it in an offensive manner? I'm not girly at all so when I wore 5 inch heels to Homecoming one year in HS everyone joked about my "hooker heels" but it was more a jab at my lack of girlyness (and grace on said heels) than anything, wasn't meant offensively. I think your shoes are cute though!
@aprose: I don't think they are totally stripper-y, but I am guessing she is saying that because of the patent platform part. If that was matte I'd say they'd be better.
as im 5ft 10" in bare feet i never warmed to the chunky extra 1 to 2" soles on shoes like this because i cant wear them!
stripper shoes?? maybe but i still love the colour and design and look so rock them i say
Those are NOT stripper shoes! They are, however, super cute!
Are you upset that she said that, or asking us if we think the shoes are acceptable?
I personally wouldn't wear them to my wedding, and I *might* raise my eyebrows if I saw a bride wearing them...so you should be glad that you have a friend honest enough to clue you in to what some people *might* think.
As a fellow heel and platform lover, my rule is: as long as there's no dollar bills of golfish swimming in the heels, you're good.
Wear them and look fab :)
@Aure: any woman that can wear those and still dance deserves all the $1 notes she can get
I can see where your friend would say this (because of the platform), but it's not like they are 6 inch lucite heels. They are "racier" than some people may wear, but they are by no means inappropriate. If you love them and feel comfortable in them, wear them!
I wore 5inch black and pink Steve Madden pumps (I'm trying to post the pic). One person's stripper heel is another bride's ability to kiss her hubby without standing on a box. And they were cute. So there. ;)
It's the style, 4-5 inch heel with patent platform, that's just what they're known as. I like them, I think they're cute and totally in style right now, that's just what they've been nicknamed (at least around here). I wouldn't be offended and I think you should wear them if you're comfortable walking in them (I can't wear more than 3 inches without tripping all over the place).
I would absolutely wear those and I don't consider them racy at all. I find most of what people think is classy as boring though so my style may be skewed.
Haha I don't think they are stripper shoes, those would be the clear platforms that light up lol. You're shoes are super cute and spunky! I like the pattern and colors too. Although on a funny side note my dad always calls high heels, like 4 or more inches, come f*ck me pumps which I think is freaking hilarious.
sorry, i'm on your friend's side (not because of the heel, just the general design and fabrics - they're more pinup/clubwear), but if you dig 'em, wear 'em!
Those saying they're "stripper heels," are YSL Tributes stripper shoes? Are Loubies with platforms stripper shoes? C'mon ladies...
@Aure: i think when the price point goes that high you go from being a stripper to a escort ;-)
@eloping: any woman that can wear those and still dance deserves all the $1 notes she can get
LMOA!!
Well I love them. I think they're perfect ;) I've seen girls wear traditional white heels, bright blue heels, chuck taylors, and me, I'll probably be wearing wedding white toms (my FH is 3 inches shorter than me). Its all about you! Who cares if you raise a few eyebrows ;)
If a guest has enough time to be raising their eyebrows about what shoe I'm wearing they were never going to have any fun at my wedding anyways. They should be busy visiting with others or dancing their asses off.
I think they're really cute! "Stripper shoes" didn't really come to mind when I saw them.. I always think of shoes like the ones @Aure: posted when someone says "stripper shoes"...
I agree with @Aure, they don't look like stripper shoes.... Not only that, I've never seen a stripper shoe with a cute lil bow on it..... or even stripes for that matter.....
@jjmomma Crackin' up over here!!
@natbug21: LOL, that's what my mom call them.
@Aure:Yes I would call patent YSL Tributes stripper shoes. It's a style, not necessarily a criticism. Like I said, that style has just been given that name.
@redhead46: The name of the style is "platform pumps," not "stripper shoes." I posted an example of real stripper shoes, Tributes are definitely not.
@sarahbabs:the red part is actually a matte just the way the light hits it makes it look shiny.
@joy2011: she said it in a kind of snarky tone. they are not her style but i was totally not expecting that reaction! it made me wonder if that is what everyone else thinks too.
SO is 6-7 in taller than me flat footed and his dress shoes give him almost an extra inch. i love these shoes because they dont make me feel short and i thin they look fantastic and are SO comfortable.
@Aure: thats kinda what i thought too. there are a lot of high end shoes that have the same platform style and it doesnt make them stripper shoes :) love the picture of the "tips" shoes
@Aure:Totally agree! I wouldn't wear them because I wouldn't be able to walk in them. If I could wear them-totally they're very cute!
I was totally expecting a clear platform. Those are adorable, and your friend needs to get educated on stripper shoes.
I love them and think they're adorable but I wouldn't wear them to say work, so I wouldn't wear them to my wedding most likely. The inverted platform is a tad...clubby IMO.
Shunken blazer, white T and boyfriend jeans and I'd be all over these babies however.
I think they are cute! I don't see them being stripper-ish at all.
I have some stripper type halloween shoes lol... yours don't look like these at all
Those are NOT stripper shoes. Strippers wear shoes with much taller platforms, and with no design like these have. They are just fine.
I don't think they're strippery at all. I think they're totally cute and if you want to wear them and love them then DO IT.
@HappilyEverAfter54: I LOVE that first pair of shoes and wouldn't call them strippery... but they are AWESOME.
I expected to see something like Aure posted when I read the title.
IMO, your shoes are totally fine. When the shoes are on, you only really see the top, which are totally cute. Love the anchor on the bottom :)
Well...strippers do where ultra high heels with platforms, but so does most of that fashion world right now too. The red patent leather is racier than your typical white satin too.
I was slow to warm to the front platform trend, but they are way more comfortable than platformless high heels, and the extra 5 inches of height made my dress and body look a lot nicer (IMO) on my wedding day. People only see your shoes when you hike up your dress anyway.
I don't think they are stripper heels.
But I do think they say "club" a lot more than they say "wedding".
I think they are so cute and love the colors. I would not describe them as stripperish and don't let her opinion change what you think of them!!
Shes jealous!!! lol. Not stripper at all. and i think that one of the ONE things ,esp if your a shoe gal, that is all your choice, it doesnt even have to match... is the shoes!! Im 5 foot and my FI is 6'3 so, uhhh yeaaa im wearing tall shoes!!! us shorties gotta rock it!! now, perhaps if your a 6'5 chick and your gonna be like 7 feet after the heels, i miiight re think. :p
