Yes, me! My FI has lots of friends, but there is this one who I absolutely cannot stand. He also lives in another state so we don’t see him often but he calls/texts my FI about 80 times a day.

I can’t stand this guy. He lives in a big house and he has made comments to people when I am in the room, talking about how tiny my apartment is. I held my tongue out of deference to FI, but I did let my FI know that if he ever says it again, I am letting him have it. I was especially mad because the onyl reason that guy lives in a big house is because he lives off his rich wife.

I am also disgusted with that guy because he is middle-aged and ogles his son’s teenaged girlfriends on facebook and it is really gross. I don’t trust the MF and was irritated when we announced our engagement on facebook and his first comment was, “Bachelor party?”

As far as how to deal with it, keep a cool head, but let your FI know that the guy kind of sucks so at least he is aware of it. I have been doing that lately, in a calm way with my FI and I notice he is kind of getting turned off too.

@Jullsz:  I think that you may need to have a frank conversation with your FI about it, especially if they are such good friends. This guy really sounds like an asshole.

Mine is the same way! Always paying for everything and they have been friends since they were kids!

We were at a party last week, and this schmuck was there, and he got drunk. Then he started making comments to me about how “solid” I looked. I think he meant it as a compliment but I was pissed off.  It’s like he was really making an assessment of me. Then he told some long story about how he had a client lunch with this woman who was so beautiful and how much he loved looking at her. I would be so embarrassed if I were his wife.

What does your FI say about him though? My FI does agree with me that this friend is a bit of an idiot, which definitely helped.

Does he defend him?

My DH actuall has a coworker I can’t stand. Their whole office is like a frat and this guy is the ring leader. He definately is way more macho than I can stand. DH agree so we usually end up just joking about the rude things he does on the way home from work get togethers (his work gets together a lot outside of the office for baseball games, brewery tours, cookouts)

Maybe he’s mean to you because he likes you? LIKE Likes you…as in attracted to you? How’s that for 1st grade logic?? 🙂

YES! My fh has a friend who says I am a ‘bad influence’ on his girlfriends.. He wants him as a groomsman in the wedding, which is fine, its his day too.. Glad I don’t have to deal with him.. He’ll be the least of my problems on our day 🙂

SO has one friend I really don’t like because:

  • He spends all of his free time at strip clubs.
  • He’s 25 and tends to either date middle-aged married women or teenage girls. His current girlfriend is 16. How’d they meet, you ask? He previously dated her mom.
  • He’s weirdly attached to my SO. When my SO moved across the country to be with me, his friend got mad at me for “taking (SO) away from him” and then changed his last name to my SO’s last name on Facebook. He also touches/gropes my SO inappropriately in front of me.
  • When my SO got falling down drunk at his birthday party one year and was kicked out of the bar, instead of helping me get my SO in the car and up the stairs to his apartment, the friend poked, prodded, and laughed at my SO while he was throwing up.

Classy guy. Like I said, SO moved across the country, so I don’t have to see this guy on a regular basis anymore 🙂 When we go back to visit SO’s hometown, of course they hang out, but I still have the comfort of knowing he lives there and we live here.

@Jullsz:  Thanks, I feel for you too! If it really bothers you, I would say have your fiance ask his friend if he has a problem with you… otherwise I’d just try to spend as little time with the guy as possible.
