@FutureMrsT1221:  a friend of mine was registered a Victoria’s Secret for her bridal shower too but I couldn’t find it. I just went in and grabbed a good perfume/lotion gift set that was on sale and got her a gift card so that she could go get whatever it was she had registered for. My guess is that she just made a wish list but those arent public that I’m aware of.

I just think it’s wrong. I don’t want to buy someone intimate apparel. That’s why the call it that, it’s intimate….and strange!

The good news is that, even if a bride has established registries, there is no etiquette requirement that you choose a gift from among them.  If you want to purchase a shower gift for your friend, you are free to choose something entirely different, and at a price point with which you are comfortable.

As for lingerie at showers, when I was younger, and most of my friends were starting to marry, it was quite common for bridal showers to include a range of gifts, from household items to lingerie for the bride’s honeymoon trusseau. I admit, however, that I always found it slightly awkward to watch my friends open gifts featuring lacey and sometimes see-through unmentionables as their mothers, aunts, great aunts, and grandmothers ooohed and ahhhhed.  🙂

I’ve been to a few lingerie showers, but they are usually in conjunction with the Bachelorette somehow and it was only very close friends. It’s slightly strange to do it for the general bridal shower in my experience. I wouldn’t want granny seeing me open sexy panties!
