Hi wedding bees!
I have been reading wedding bees for years and as a wedding planner I’ve encounter a great many vendors. I recently finished a wedding for a couple that was on shoe string budget and found them a photographer on this forum dated 3 years back. His work and price was what my bride and groom was looking for.
As a considerate warning – I wanted to make sure other wedding bees are aware of what they are getting themselves into should they book this photographer, Garvin Tso. Here are some key points:
- lack of response to inquires
- behavior/attitude on day of the wedding
To summarize: It was impossible to get a hold of this vendor when I intially connected with him last year. It took several phones calls and emails before the bride & groom recieved a response. The contract did not reflect what was agreed upon and took several edits. Everytime I called, he sounded distracted or clueless when I mentioned the couple’s name or my inquires on why emails have not been responded back over several weeks. On the day of the wedding, we had given him a photo shoot list and times to get those shots done. At the reception he informed me he did not have any photos of the bride and groom seperately which should have been done at the church ceremony. So I quickly gathered the bride and groom for a few quick shots before the reception program began. Garvin Tso started to debate with the groom and bride on the photo background set up because he told them that the wedding cake and sweetheart table was “not good enough” shot for his work in the album. At this point, the groom and bride were not pleased by his attitude. I had to pull him aside to firmly talk with him. In addition, his secondary photographers, pulled a wire for the sound system during the father daughter dance which had the bride devastated. At the end of the night, as I gave him the payment, I gave Garvin some professional advice on how he could run his business better since he’s new on the scene as a photographer (his passion is as a videographer for TV). He was never apologetic, was surprised and dismissive that I had done research on his work when I mentioned that he was new in the business.
So my wedding bees, I know photography vendors are expensive, but please be wary and cautious if you choose Garvin Tso as your photographer. I would hate for another couple to have to endure what my recent bride and groom had to face.
