One of the blog posts today made me think about how many awesome friends I have with helpful talents willing to lend a hand. I’m pretty sure I have more than the average amount of friendors helping out with the wedding, but I wanted to know what friendors or simply talented friends everyone else has helping with theirs? Here’s my cross post from the blog post:
Our wedding photographer is my future brother in law’s wife’s sister. Did you get that? Haha… In a very roundabout way, she’s family and she’s a brilliant, amazing photographer offering us a very steep discount. There’s absolutely no way I could have afforded her otherwise and I’m so grateful. I can’t wait to have her shoot our wedding!
My fiance and I are deeply involved in theater so we know a lot of people with a lot of very useful skills who are lending a much needed hand. We have a florist, a seamstress, a carpenter, 2 officiants, a videographer and lots backstage hands offering us their services for free. Putting on a wedding is a LOT like putting on a show and us theater folk definitely know how to put on a show!

MOH’s hubby has offered to photograph our entire wedding for $300. It’s awesome. 🙂 A Bridesmaid or Best Man offered to make my dress, but I haven’t heard anything yet, so I’m getting nervous…

My brother was our videographer – which I love because he got footage of us all weekend. Our photographer was my husband’s cousin’s fiance (they’re getting married next month). He shot our wedding as a gift. I’m going to help her design her programs. 🙂

My family is very involved at our church (I’m no less than the assistant choir director, haha), so all things related to that will be gifted to us. A family friend offered to design and set up the reception space for us. She’ll be a little like a DOC on the day of the wedding. There are also a lot of musicians in my family; my aunt is a professional flautist, my uncle a composer/professor of music, and my other aunt an accomplished pianist. They played at my sister’s wedding and I’m going to ask them to do the same at mine.
My dad’s friend used to DJ, so he’s going to do that for us. My Future Sister-In-Law is a pro hair/makeup artist, and I’m going to ask her to doll me up for the wedding. My sister is going to school for film, so she’s already decided to shoot our wedding, haha. My older sister has offered to help design/make the invites…that’ a HUGE relief to me!
My uncle is a pro photographer, but I don’t think we’ll be using him officially because he lives two states away…all in all, I am extremely lucky to have so many friendors!

Mother-In-Law used to be a hairdresser and she did hair for all the girls. A cousin did the makeup, which I didn’t know about until the day of, but it’s okay because I was planning on doing it myself. Another cousin is a photographer and gave us a good rate, great pictures, too! Another relative, I can’t remember how she’s related, is in the catering business, and helped us there. This is all my husband’s family.
My best friend did the bouquets. Also, some friends of my husband’s family were the DJs.

my mom is our officiant, she’s a pastor.
I’m a photographer myself and my girlfriend who shoots with me is shooting our ceremony.
One of his fellow firefighters is a part time dj and providing the music for us.
His mom is making our cake for us.
We are truly blessed!
