- Wedding: May 2016
So, as many know Facebook is both a neat way to keep in touch with people you really like, and also those you don’t know super well, and to get surprise news, all at once.
In the past year, 11 couples Boyfriend or Best Friend and I know have gotten engaged, and now 4 have shared their vows. We have 3 scheduled weddings to attend (June, August, October), and one we know is coming TBA, along with 2 more of people we know, but might not be going to the wedding. One engagement, sadly, fell through back in March.
Through the magic of FB, I found that one set of friends who got engaged around Valentine’s Day 2011 apparently eloped at the JP’s this weekend. I’m happy they did, as I’d heard from some of the groom’s friends she just “found the ring at the house, but it wasn’t for her”, which made no sense to me, but I’d worried there may have been something weird going on and that she was going to be gurt eventually. Since he married her this weekend, and it looks planned, not a “Let’s get a burger, hey, thre’s the courthouse, let’s get hitched” deal, they’re in a white dress and a suit and someone was taking decent pics and she had flowers, I guess the friends were 100% wrong – maybe she found the ring before he could do his planned proposal, but I have no doubt he intended it for her. I’m happy for them, glad his intent was real, and honest.
But, as usual, the horrible monster in me has been sad that we’ve not made it that far, and I know I’m not going to be able to feel much better until we get past all these weddings and/or I can just forget about it more often, or we move forward, too. Grrr – stupid monster.
