We’re getting married in New Jersey, but have friends coming in from all over the world. In getting our addresses together we’ve noticed a few who live close to each other, but are on the other person’s list and have never met one another. Would it be weird to put a line on our wedding website encouraging those coming from a distance to carpool? We’d like as many of our friends to come as possible, and would like to minimize their costs.

Well, you can always give them the option. Maybe if they are on Facebook they could begin talking through that? Or email?
i actually met a really close friend this way – she knew my sister at uni and wanted a new church to go to so my sister suggested mine. She facebooked me and the rest is history! So, you never know what could happen.

You could suggest it, I would just be careful as some might enjoy their privacy and might not want to spend extended amounts of time with people they do not know. You never know though!

@prettyinpink11: I didn’t mean carpooling all the way here, just like sharing a cab fare to the airport or something.

@luluvohn: it cant hurt to suggest it!

If it was offered to me, I’d do it. Sharing a cab from the airport isn’t a long drive – if you have nothing in common with the other person aside from the wedding, pop in those ear buds and chill.

That sounds like a great idea!

i’ve given a ride to a friend of a friend before – 6 hour road trips, sure why not, save on gas. If my friend likes them they can’t be all bad!
