Isilme:  I’ve never been to texas but just wanted to say how much fun that sounds like! DH & I also LOVE river time- camping, sunning, bbqing, and tubing. Getting ready for our first tube trip of the summer on our wedding gift from my brother- a 2-person tube with a cooler in the middle!! Either way it sounds awesome!

this sounds soooo cool!

but I think parents trump cool 🙁

When you say immobile… would they even be able to come to a local wedding?  If not, then I guess it doesn’t matter where you have it…

Maybe you can do a symbolic ceremony and pics by their bedsides before you leave for the wedding (whereever it is)

Isilme:  I would just be blunt with the brother & his wife about the parents and see what they say before making a decision. Tell them your tentative plans, layout your concerns about the parents/grandparents, then tell them you took care of getting them ready & there for his wedding and you both expect the same from them now that it’s your turn.

However, if you don’t think this is an option, it doesn’t sound like they will be able to make it to their sons wedding- partially for medical reasons which is perfectly understandable. If that’s your final conclusion and your FI is okay with that then have it wherever you want! You could look into having the ceremony streamed for them or if it’s not too far away maybe stop by in between your ceremony/reception to say hi & get pics for half an hour?
