Someone posted about their difficulty finding stuff for their frog prince/princess theme a while back, so I thought I’d give it a shot. I’d love more suggestion if anyone has some!

Okay, so the fairy tale mentions a spoiled princess, but where I drew my inspiration from was the idea that so many people are just frogs, but you found the one who was your prince…and you can never tell just by looking at them. It’s about transformation and finding that someone special.

As far as I could tell there’s no out of the box Frog Prince themed wedding which means you’re doing some cool trailblazing, but also means that some things are going to be harder to find. Some of the following is cute, elegant, obvious and subtle, so it’s just a matter of finding what works for you.

Symbols: Frog, Crown, Pillow, Well, Water, Golden Ball, Fairy Tale, Water Lily, Lily Pad, Book, Kiss

Colors: Green (frog), Gold (heart, ball), Blue (water), Pink (lily)

    Bride: Gold crown/tiara

    Groom: Round gold cufflinks

Bridesmaids: Green or pink dresses starting from darker to lighter green as they get closer to the bride. Carrying yellow/golden pomanders instead of bouquets.

Groomsmen: Pocket squares, vests, or ties starting from darker to lighter green as they get closer to the groom

Ring Bearer: Formal wear could be a pale green suit and bow tie with a white shirt. www.Infashionkids.com has a sage green one.

    Semi-formal: Green slacks, white shirt
    Crown lapel pin: http://www.pinmart.com/shopDetails.cfm?p=8153&cat=49
    Frog prince lapel pin: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=6345068

    Flower Girl

    Ring Pillow

Green pillow with small frog prince embellishment like the one from etsy http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=6345068
    Lily pad shaped pillow
Ring bearer carrying a handmade plush frog with rings tied
    Gold rings

    Cake
Frog tracks in fondant up the cake to the groom’s feet

    Invitations/Cards
You could also do your paperwork similar to the popular bird design, but just have a frog with a crown. Find your favorite bird designs and ask the artist the do the concept with a frog prince.
    http://whiteaisle.com/birds_of_a_feather.htm
    Crown (Hallmark like) envelope seals
RSVPs or seating cards: Empty lily pads as opposed to one with a frog on it since you’ve found your prince.

Wishing well for guests to write their wishes for the bride and groom. Can also be used as a card box (example is Australian, but gives the general idea): http://www.salandras.com/Wishing%20Wells.htm

Make your own signature cocktail called “The Kiss”. There are several variations out there: chocolate kiss, French kiss, Italian kiss and so on. Or you could just make one up. There’s also one called “The Frog”

    Guest Book
A fairy tale looking blank book with a mix of your love story and blank spaces for the guests to add their names and wishes. You could use the new Once Upon a Time Glitter Album from DCWV. It could be your own fairy tale when it’s all put together. If you have the means, you could even have your love story done in calligraphy.

Disney is coming out with a cartoon movie based on the Frog Prince story. This will probably mean a lot more frog prince merchandise out there (possibly even more Frog Prince themed weddings), but could also mean that many of the Frog Prince items will have the Disney stamp.

One last thing….I would probably omit the frog’s legs.

This reminds me of a cute song... "Princes & Frogs (Underdog Mix)" by Superchick... maybe not wedding appropriate in its entirety, but still oh so cute :) (listen to it on itunes... it's an "in between songs" track, but a gem!)

    All princes start as frogs

    All gentlemen as dogs

Just wait 'til it's plain to see

what we're growing up to be

'Cause some frogs will still be frogs

and some dogs will still be dogs

but some boys can become men

just don't kiss us 'til then

You hate men that's what you say

And I understand how you feel that way

All girls dream of a fairy tale

But what you've got's like a used car salesman

    Trying to conceal what's wrong

Behind a smile and a song

And I'm not saying that boys are not like that

But I think you should know

That some of us will grow

    because...

    All princes start as frogs

    All gentlemen as dogs

Just wait 'til it's plain to see

what we're growing up to be

'Cause some frogs will still be frogs

and some dogs will still be dogs

but some boys can become men

just don't kiss us 'til then

You found him is what you said

and we all want you to feel that way

The frog you've got seems cute enough to kiss

and maybe frogs seem like that's all there is

but just because you haven't found your prince yet

    doesn't mean you're still not a princess

and what if your prince comes riding in

    while you're kissing a frog?

    what's he gonna think then?

    So look into his eyes...

are you a princess or a fly?

    All princes start as frogs

    All gentlemen as dogs

Just wait 'til it's plain to see

what we're growing up to be

'Cause some frogs will still be frogs

and some dogs will still be dogs

but some boys can become men

just don't kiss us 'til then

This theme reminds me of one of my favorite childrens books by Carmela LaVigna Coyle: Do Princesses Really Kiss Frogs?

    Very creative, Angel!

Boy, that make the Children's Book Collector in me happy!

And it gave me another idea. The couple could find their favorite Frog Prince book and instead of table numbers, use page numbers: each table is a page of the book. They could make a copy of the page onto their favorite kind of paper, paste it to a card stock and put it in a table number holder. I'm sure there are fancy ways of presenting this, but you get the general idea.

Wow, Angel. Way to communicate a theme!

When DH and I were merely dating but very very smitten with eachother, we invited my fam (mom, sis + her dh + two wee ones) over for dinner. My youngest niece, then 2 or 3,  presented a colored-in "Prince Charming" coloring book page to me saying, "Kissy (short for aunt chrissy), Ayix (Alex) is your pince (prince)!" How I loved that moment - the picture is still on the fridge and once we get settled in the new house I'll frame it.

While this isn't a Frog Prince story, it still involved a Prince and was too cute not to share this dreary chilly morning!

That is so sweet, christgpa and frame worthy!

I told my guy when he first met my then 6 year old little sister, if she shows you all her stuff, then you're in. Sure enough, after five minutes she was dragging out half her bedroom for show and tell. He was grinning from ear to ear.

I better add coloring books to the Frog Prince list. :)

That is awesome! Also, if anyone is looking for a lot of frog stuff, they have tons at Ross/Marshalls in the housewares department.

Thanks for the kind words everyone! I'm hoping this post will find Melanie who was the original inspiration. She responded to Mrs. Tulip's bird theme post: http://www.weddingbee.com/2007/09/25/fun-with-themes-part-ii-birds/
