Do you think you could get away with a dress made for a shorter bride if you wore flats?
I see a lot of adds that say that it was hemmed for a woman that was 5'X" tall with X" heels.
For example- if the bride 4" shorter that you wore 3 1/2 inch heels, you could wear flats or a low heel, perhaps.
Another possibility- I have no idea what your dream dress looks like, but perhaps you could add lace trim (or some other kind of trim) to add length.
Also- depending on the height difference, depending on how thick the hem is, you might be able to let them hem out/down to gain an inch or 2.
Sorry it's frustrating.
My frustration is that when I close my eyes and see myself I see a skinny girl but not skin and bones. I know I have muscle and I like it that way, but when I look in photos I see a size 10+ girl. I've purchased a never been used size 14 dress (with the lace type up back)....I'm hoping it's too big, it's never been altered, so if you think you might like to try it out if it doesn't fit me I can pass it on.
I feel your pain on the butt issue!! I completely fooled the woman in the bridal boutique who couldn't figure out why the dresses she was pulling out for me were so huge. Then she brought me smaller sizes and I couldn't pull them past my waist. I think her head nearly exploded trying to figure it out! ;)
I haven't had quite the height issue that you have since I'm only about 5'7" but I can definitely see where it would be a problem finding a used gown that addresses both. Best of luck!
PS -- have you checked out preownedweddingdresses.com?
ooooohhhh sounds so familiar... I am 5'10"and have a small waist and generous booty... ugh. Dress dilima indeed... it's tough to find the right thing new, good luck!!!
Oh no! I'm sorry you're having problems!! Where have you been looking? Have you tried oncewed.com?
i suggest that you go try on dresses you like and stalk ebay! i found mine that way and it was super cheap and exactly the size I needed...except i'm short so i had to get it shorten...but at least i got the size i needed and for 1/4 of the price for the 3 pieces (veil, dress, and underskirt) and it was all NEW!
go EBAY!
Okay so I am skinny a little too skinny but I am 6 ft tall with flats. This has been H*** with finding a dress. Seeing how it is all legs not body but all leg. My inseam is 40 in. So I feel part of your pain. Hang in there....

I just had to vent! I have been looking for a particular dress in my size. Well, I'm no small girl. I'm rather like an Amazon woman. I've got the Hispanic butt of J.Lo or Serena Williams. And while I've tried to tango my way down to a smaller size, my body doesn't feel like it. And it take two to tango.
So basically everytime I find a listing for a dress that would fit my butt...it's been altered for a girl at least 4" shorter than me! So all the pics I see are big girls like me...yeah...if I had my shins cut off.
Has anyone else had a hard time finding a dress that fits your height? Is this a problem for short brides too or just us tall Amazon girls?
