Just need to vent a little Bees….
So FI and I’s song is “Honey Bee” by Blake Shelton.
<iframe width=”560″ height=”315″ src=”//www.youtube.com/embed/xZjosn2u1gA” frameborder=”0″ allowfullscreen></iframe>It perfectly captures us and FI (then BF) told me it reminded him of us when he first said I love you (because he’s “not good at this stuff” ie. verbalizing feelings).
The problem is, the song is too fast and upbeat for what we want our first dance to be. We have been trying to find a slow and/or acoustic version of it to no avail.
So now I’ve resorted to posting on Craigslist in the hopes of finding a local singer who can either record the song or sing live just for the first dance.
We are in the meantime trying to find another song that we both love, and if we find one that we both go “that’s it!” we will just play Honey Bee at some other point in the reception. But it really would be perfect if only we can slow it down……..

@MsYankee: Good job looking for someone to slow it down, my BFF danced to a fast beat song for their first dance… it was SO AWKWARD.
Our dj was also sings, maybe you could check around about that? Check with a choir? church band? I don’t have much faith in CList….

You might be able to find someone to edit the spead if your track digitially. This may be easier than looking for someone to recreat the track. Our dance teacher is doing this for us because the version of the song that my FI wants to use for our first dance is not just slow, it’s painfully slow. Like, it would be hard to do the high school sway to this song, let alone actually ballroom dance like we do.

@Misswhowedding: Thanks! I’ll look into that.
@mchitt329: Yes, we know that we can’t do a first dance to it the way it is, it would just be very awkward and FI is feeling awkward enough having to dance in front of people haha. (I, however, danced competitively until I was 18, so I’m looking forward to it!! )

If you don’t find someone on Craiglists, or your DJ, etc. a last resort might be looking on youtube for “honey bee acoustic”? there are several people playing on there, and you might be able to play or copy one of their versions.

We totally know the feeling.. me & fi’s song is “hanging by a moment” by lifehouse… but it’s just too fast to slow dance to.
We are considering using “I’ll be” [the slower version], and then playing hanging by a moment later.. but it really breaks my heart to not use our song!

@MsYankee: did you look at youtube? I found a guitar player on there who made a version of the song we wanted to use. I think that would be safer than CList.

@MsYankee: my FI and I decided to do a more upbeat song! It may be awkward, we’ll see but we both absolutely love it plus we are from and getting married in Texas so we will be two stepping. I do think a slower version of honey bee would be perfect, good luck finding someone 🙂

I’ve had 2 responses so far from lead singers in local well known bands, one of which is a male country singer! His band opened up locally for national acts such as kip Moore, joe Nichols and brad paisley. I’m excited about this possibility!! I also think if it works out FI and I will keep it a surprise for our guests!!

@lynnielou33193: I’ve searched YouTube- no one has done it as a slow version that I can find.

The band I talked about yesterday who have opened for some national acts are playing tomorrow night so we’re going to go check them out and talk to the lead singer afterward. I’m so excited about this!

You can try fiverr.com. There are people there who can probably play and record your song for $5.

How about a slower cover version?
@CakeyP: That’s what we’re trying to do, but I cannot find one on Youtube – all the covers are acoustic but still fast, or just as Blake sings it.

Why not just two-step? Around here, people two-step to faster songs and it’s not weird or awkward at all. If you want to try to do a traditional slow dance step, though, then yeah, that might be a little odd.
