Alright Bees, I never post but I am very frustrated and while I know there are tons of you out there in the same boat, I am still feeling very alone…. so heres my situation…. I finally got up enough courage to contact the doctor about what I am convinced is PCOS (after months of telling myself I am just fine and overreacting), of course they had me take a pregnancy test first but it came back negative. The doctor’s nurse essentially told me not to worry about my irregular periods….I then called her back this afternoon and stated blatantly that I have all the symptoms for PCOS, excess hair growth on my upper lip, cheeks, belly, irregular periods (99 days and counting), diabetes runs in my family (mother and brother), acne, all the above! Still she told me my only treatment is to go on birth control or have a hysterectomy…well at 25 the latter is not an option. We have not started actively ttc (but we are ntnp right now, actively trying in a few months) but from reading other posts other bees seem to be on metformin to assist with symptoms but again when I blatantly asked about going on metformin she told me that if I go on metformin it has to be in conjunction with bc pills, I cant take it without being on bc pills….is this normal? Should I really not be concerned at all about this? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!
