@MrsHotPink:  It might be nothing or it might indicate microcephaly which can be caused by many things from Downs to sensitivity to PKU. She should follow up with her doctor regularly for additional testing.

They might be concerned about microcephaly but its very rare. I’m sure the follow up will look for more accurate measurements maybe a better resolution scan/ultrasound if possible. The position of the baby can make it difficult for these measurements to be accurate sometimes so I wouldn’t worry too much about any of until she sees the specialist. It’s always better to follow up and be safe, rule out the possibility. I understand the concern and worry, it’s normal, but only the specialist will be able to tell your fsil if there’s a problem or not. If they haven’t already they might also check for any genetic abnormalitis. Again, wouldn’t worry too much until you know for sure. I hope everything goes well and that she has a happy healthy baby.

How far along is she?  It’s really hard to measure these things, so depending on the timing, a few milimeters might be the deciding factor, and there is always humna error.  Sending good thoughts her way!
