Hi Bees! I haven’t been on here in the past few days because honestly I was just overwhelmed.
Here’s my original post if you didn’t see it: http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/i-lost-my-job-today-1#axzz2Rc7yEkqC
Anyways, I’m feeling much better… here’s the rundown:
I’m still going to work part-time at my current job, I think they hope the financial situation will turn around and they can bring me back on fulltime. I was the highest paid employee there at my level :/ sucks to be me. My plan though is to have a new job before they can take me back. And then if I do decide to go back, get a higher salary since I have the other offer.
I’m still fulltime until the end of the month, so I’ve been very busy, but I’ve managed to apply for 2-3 jobs per day while working my fulltime job. I’m going to get a portfolio together this weekend so that I can apply to some of the jobs that require it.
My SO has been ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL AND VERY SUPPORTIVE. He’s taking on part of my rent and he’s buying the food for us and the dog. I told him I feel terrible because I’m not pulling my weight and contributing but all he said was, “I don’t see it that way, we’re a team so we’re going to manage this as such.”
I do think he’ll still propose, and honestly I hope I’m celebrating a new job by then. But even if I’m not, I’m feeling a lot more confident than I was that first night when I posted here.
Thanks for calming me down and posting before, especially MsJ2theZ, Britt214, somethingaquamarine, deetroitwhat, & Loyalfox13. Your responses to my post helped me a lot. You can find friends in this world anywhere, even online :).

@DreamingofDiamonds: Thanks for the update! I’m so glad he’s being supportive and seeing you two as a team.

You’re so welcome! I was very happy to see this post. You’ve found such a wonderful man. Just keep applying. I’ve been applying for jobs myself as I’m graduating with my Masters on Friday…and it’s a daunting process. Sounds like you’re taking this on like a champ.
Hang in there!

Was supposed to have my first part-time day today, my boss wants me to stay on at least another month full-time with a discussion in 2 weeks. Guess we’ll see how this goes…
I feel kind of bad because I told him I wouldn’t apply to jobs in the 2 week period, but I’m not sure I won’t. The stability in this job is just not there.

@DreamingofDiamonds: I think you should DEFINITELY apply for other jobs! If things can change in two weeks, they can change in another two weeks. It’s not fair of them to jerk you around. I think your plan is a good one! Good luck! Keep us posted.

@DreamingofDiamonds: You need to look out for #1, say apply!

Thanks girls, that was my thought too! He is of course looking out for his company and wants to get as much out of me as he can…
In the meantime, I’m less worried about the engagement not happening now… more time to look for a job while still getting paid.
SO asked me the other day if while we’re up in Seattle before we see my parents, we can take a walk on campus at the university we went to. I have a feeling that is when he is going to propose and honestly couldn’t think of a prettier place to receive a ring… I hope I’m right!!

How wonderful your SO is being supportive 🙂 I’m sure you’ll come into a new job before you know it. Even if you don’t, just use your increased spare time to enjoy the little things you love that are free like hiking with your dog or something. I feel you on getting cut hours because of BS out of your control… I only get about 10 hours a week now between 2 jobs I have -_-. BUT I’m still lovin life and there is a lot of free things to enjoy like air and dancing in the flowers ;]. Good luck with everything and I hope you get your dream proposal soon!!
