I’m going shopping tomorrow for some anew clothes and I’m dreading it because of how big I am (5’4 and 170). Can anybody give me tips on what sorts of outfits to buy, or post pics of you in flattering clothes?? Thanks!!

hey, you’re not that big! 🙂 I don’t know what style you’re looking for, however, here are some pics of clothes that work.
aaaand me: (well that WAS me, 3 years ago, when I weighed about 30lbs less)

I think the trick above all is fit. I’m 5’2 or so, and weigh about 175/180. When I wear baggy clothes to try to “camouflage my problem areas,” I end up looking much bigger and much sloppier than I otherwise would. For me, it’s about good long lines and pops of colour. I play up my collarbones and bust because those are the parts about me I like the best. Wrap dresses are my friend, so are dark wash bootcut jeans. Don’t be afraid of colour, and don’t be afraid to try things on. And remember you can always tailor things. Accessories also make an outfit. Good bags, fun earrings, a neat scarf, they elevate the basics a lot.
My best piece lately is a jersey wrap dress in a gorgeous navy print from Banana Republic. I used to think I couldn’t shop there because I was too big, but I’ve learned what fits and flatters from trial and error, and I find great stuff there. If you have a nice little waist and good curves, things like this will really flatter you:

I’m 5’6″, size 22, and I love so many different types of clothes! I know what doesn’t work for me – empire waists, mostly!
I look BEST in tighter clothes – pencil skirts, tight jeans (but I prefer flared to skinny). Clothes that show off my hips are most flattering,
But, I also love 50’s style dresses that poof, so I wear those too. 🙂
Just try on lots of different things, and figure out what you like best. You aren’t going to look like a fashion model, but you will still look curvy and awesome. 🙂
Definitely read up on some FAT-shion blogs before you go! Good luck!
