My full-figured MOH is refusing to look at dresses because she is too self-conscious about her size. Can anyone suggest a bridesmaid dress that is flattering and forgiving? I want her to be comfortable and feel beautiful. All I’m asking is for the color to be navy. Photos would be greatly appreciated!

@margaret.leslie: You can take her to David’s Bridal. They have great princess and A-cut dresses that flatter all sizes. I am a plus size woman. I wear at DB size 26. I have always been the large bridesmaid but that does not mean she not go shopping. Not to be snarky, but she needs to get a dress or be replaced. Those things take time to come in.
My BM’s wore “Marine” at DB which is a dark rich blue.
Something like this will be flattering because the side roushing is slendering.
This one has isn’t strapless and have back coverage
My heaviest BM wore a size 22 and my bridal party wore this and loved it

I too suggest DB….My sister is plus sized and she is having issues as well….it drives me nuts, because what does she want ME to do? I can’t change her size…I have no issues with her size (except for the heart and diabetes and cancer that is hereditary in my family and weight issues don’t help with those)…..
So i CALLED david’s bridal to confirm that they will have something for her…they said YES….and that it will be a pleasant experience (crossing fingers)….i even went to another bridal store and asked their opinion and they said david’s bridal would be best for a plus sized BM who is having “issues” with dress shopping….
I would also suggest if she is uncomfortable to do a dress shop in front of others go alone with her..BUT i would suggest the other girls go first and then she’ll have to go after….
all my bridesmaids are wearing their own chosen style, and taht’s to accommodate all their different sizes and styles!
I hope it works out…i feel your pain….

What about something like this? I think chiffon or tulle is more flattering than satin, and this has a full skirt and arm coverage…

My MOH & BM’s also went to David’s to try on gowns, but we went with a Bill Levkoff gown (#419). They were two pieces and come in a variety of colors (including navy). My MOH (pictured below) is plus-sized and I thought she looked FABULOUS!!! Good luck!

Maybe have her order these so she can try them on at home and return the ones she doesn’t want. All at Nordstrom’s. http://shop.nordstrom.com/c/womens-plus-size-formal-looks?origin=leftnav
I really like the 5th one!

Thank you for all of the suggestions! I was just worried that DB only went up to a size 26; she thinks she might be a size 30 in the bridal-dress world. I honestly don’t care what she choses as long as she is there by my side. 🙂

My sister is a larger size as well, and we went with bill levkoff style 577. It’s an a line, chiffon so hopefully will be a bit more forgiving. There is structure inside the dress so hopefully it will be ok.

I was always a pluz size bridesmaid and found dresses that came in under the bust and flared out suited me much better, i have picked a dress for my size 26 bmaid for my wedding in october, will try to upload it, colour is off putting but actual colour will be purple. i think its gorgeous.

I sould say dress is from true bridal, and the dress size they ordered her was a 30 or 32 i cant remember!! I based my dress picking around her as i felt size was overlooked when i was a bridesmaid and iwanted her to feel comfy, cos i love her!!
