Is this the norm?
For some reason I thought that it was common practice for salons to charge half (or at least give a discount) for wedding day hair and make-up trials.
I’ve looked at 3 different salons and they all charge full price for both the trial and the day of. Hair is typically around $65 and makeup around $35.
What’s been your experience?
I’m wondering if I should just skip the trials but that makes me kinda nervous …

My stylist didn’t charge me anything for my hair trial, not sure about the makeup(didn’t ask but was preparing to pay full price either way). I guess it depends on where you go?

I am a MUA and I charge full price for the trial becuase I am doing a full face of makeup and becuase if the bride decides she doesnt want to use my services I am still getting paid for what I did. I def would under no circumstances skip the trial, that can lead to a lot of confusion and headache.

Mine were included in my package.

I paid full price for the trials and they were SUBSTANTIALLY more than that. I would highly recommend doing the trials. It really made things easier for me. My stylist spent a lot of time on my trials so that we were both on the same page.

My trial for hair & makeup was $150 for one company .. and $175 for another company. Because of that, I didn’t spend much time looking around and latched onto the first one I liked (the 2nd one) hahaha.
My total for hair and makeup for myself and 7 of my bridesmaids is going to be around 2k.
ETA – My trial prices were NOT included in the damage (sigh)… AND to add insult to injury, the artists are charging me TRAVEL fees ($60 each) even though their studio is less than 10 minutes away from my venue. Worst part is they weren’t even willing to negotiate the travel fees. If I weren’t so desperate for a hair/makeup artist, I’d say screw them 😛

I guess it depends on where you live. My hometown is a pretty afforable area but I’m on a pretty tight budget.
I didn’t even pay $2K for my photography. lol

Oh nevermind, just checked- $75 each for travel fees. Ridiculous. Sorry I’m thread-jacking with my rants!
