We’ve enjoyed Daytona Beach and St. Augustine. We’ve had friends honeymoon in Miami.

Have you looked into taking a cruise?  You could leave from Jax, Port Canveral, Tampa or Miami.  We booked our 5 day cruise in a junior suite for a little more than $1000.  The inside cabins are very reasonable, and were about $250 per person

@babybird125:  Hollywood Beach, FL! My FI and I try to go there every year. It’s about 20 minutes from South Beach so you get the awesome nightlife there. But Hollywood is a tiny beach and it is totally stuck in the 60’s and I love it! They have a boardwalk but you cannot drive on it, only ride bikes, skate or wal. But they have a couple bike rental places and the boardwalk goes to other beaches so it was always fun to ride and swim at different places!

And during the summer, everynight they have a concert. In the middle of the boarswalk they have a huge stage and one night it could be salsa music and the next night a Tom Petty cover band. It was SO fun!

They have GORGEOUS little condo’s and there are only 2 or 3 big hotels. You’ll get a better deal in the smaller condos, though.

And the one year we went we drove to Key West for the day. it’s about a 2 and a half hour drive but it was really fun. We swam with dolphins there and everything!

Fort Lauderdale is only about a 30 minute drive as well so there is another place you could drive too if you wanted to see some different beaches!

I really cannot say enough good things about this place. I wanted to honeymoon there but my FI wanted to go somewhere neither of us has been before.

We stayed here at The Ocean Drive Villas. They were all brand new when we went the last time in 2010. Kitchen, bathroom and bed/living room in one. We also got a great deal. They have white christmas lights all over the courtyard and grills and patio furniture…it’s like a little garden oasis there. I love it!

@babybird125:  well we live in Miami, and sometimes to “get away” the SO and I rent a hotel on Fort Lauderdale Beach Blvd in Fort Lauderdale, which is about an hour away for us. There are a bunch of hotels, restaurants, and the beach is literally across the street from all the hotels. They have super pricey hotels, as well as price friendly hotels. You can also take a cab to Hard Rock Hotel and Casino where they have an amazing nightlife. They have a bunch of nightclubs, comedy shows, and restaurants.

FYI, you do not need a passport to go to the caribbean if you are leaving and returning from the same US port.  We thought the same thing, but all you need is a driver’s license and a birth certificate.

I know it’s not Florida, but have you thought about Savannah?  It’s beautiful, romantic, and there is some fun nightlife.

@WreckerBabe:  +1 for Savannah. LOVE it there.

We’re going to Destin, FL. I’ve never been but from what I’ve heard there’s not much in the way of night life? Like I said I haven’t been though so I can’t say for sure.

Have you looked into Destin area?  There’s a ton of restsaurants, some clubs, some bars, and really nice beaches.  Over all it doesnt have a very romantic feel to it, but its a fun place and there are probably some nice romantic beach or water side restaurants to dine at.

I second the Destin Fl. Also Marco island. Stay away from Daytona even though it’s cheap but it’s really really seedy. Just remembered Clearwater Beach is so beautiful and the sand is so white and soft. Also there is a ton to do there. Are you a member of Living Social? Join and check there fla. Deals you can get great prices. Seriously if I were you I would go with Clearwater beach!

Miami is the place! July is off season, so the prices will be good. Downtown has a brand new hotel (Hampton Inn & Suites Miami Brickell Downtown- http://www.hamptoninnmiamibrickell.com/) that everybody says is great. 15 minutes drive from SoBe and right at the cool downtown nightlife. You couldn’t ask for more!

Go to clearwater beach! That’s where fiance proposed! They have the best beach I’ve seen so far, in the US!  They also have great nightlife, and it’s just so romantical that there is an awesome sunset over the gulf, unobstructed 🙂

We are going to Marco Island, nvr been there. But i can recommend Destin/Pensecola beach.  Its a beautiful beach not crowded esp. in Destin.  Not much of a night life in Destin but Pensecola is a short drive away and there is more to do there.
